Kinda like people that can't admit they were wrong.

Not sure what the Hall of Fame coach who was supposed to fix Joey was trying for on Sparty's final possession. They had 20+ seconds left when they got the ball ... and ended up heaving a no-chance prayer at the buzzer. Truly, a Wojo-riffic ending.

In all seriousness, it's not unique to an Izzo team.  End of game situational basketball is terrible in college.  Overcoaching is the culprit.  Kids are too afraid to make a mistake instead of just playing

Yeah I hate they hold the ball instead of running an offense. To preach passing and movement, and then ignore that at the most critical time is nuts.

What makes this case more egregious is, Joey is a team first player that wants to see the ball shared.  Wonder if he's thinking of transferring at break

Shameful.   Cringeworthy.    Let's go defend his honor to Spartan fans.

Agree with that, Unk.

As for this particular situation ... when you're down by 1, you run your play (rather than hold the ball) and try to score on the first good opportunity. Get the lead and then worry about playing defense.

Then again, maybe Izzo was sick of playing in that locale and wanted no chance of OT or even a series of time-outs. So just hold till the last half-second, launch one at the buzzer, and either lose (the likely outcome) or win.

And the account that tower is (rightfully) criticizing and saying that we've never had something like has 2 followers. Both are embarrassing behavior

So far it's turning out that The Celtics are getting a heckuva bargain on the Sam signing for three years.
