I’m still mad Shaka ran off future NBA player Jamal Cain

I'm still mad that wojo miscoached a future NBA player for 4 years.

I think Joey would flourish in Shaka's offense.   Alternating between the Oso role and the OMax role.   I think he would be a disaster defensively with the switching and having to defend 1 through 5.

I haven’t watched him lately, but feel he’d play a similar role to Joplin. I don’t think Joey is as quick and athletic as OMax or as long as Oso.

He's turnover-prone, definitely not an Oso-level passer, robotic and not a very good offensive rebounder. But he does shoot better than either of them, so I agree with cheebs that Joey would have been more of a Joplin-like spot-up shooter in our offense. And yes, he's still a frightfully bad defensive player, although a decent defensive rebounder.

I'd take either O-Max or Oso over him, and it's really not very close. Would I take this season's Joey over this season's Joplin? Perhaps.

In Year 5.5 in college, Hauser the Younger is finally having a decent season under a Hall of Fame coach.

Glad he helped Sparty beat Madison.

You know what’s definitionally pathetic? Joey was an absolute statue down the stretch tonight. Illini shot over him, drove past him, jumped over him, and left him sucking air.

Offensively, he mostly stood at the 3-point line watching Hoggard take all the shots.

Not sure if you saw the game last night, Unk, but it had a play you'd appreciate as Illinois rallied to win. Illinois missed a shot and Joey thought he had Dain Dainja boxed out, but Dainja outmuscled Joey, leapt over him, Joey went stumbling like a punch-drunk pug, and Dainja made the layup to put Illinois up 5 with about 4 minutes left.

Joey ended up with 11 (4-of-11) and 11. He missed all three 3s he took as MSU amazingly went the entire game without hitting a 3. And Sparty only had 4 assists all game -- 4! -- as the offense mostly consisted of Hoggard and Walker going 1-on-1.

There were a few times Joey had that "Damn it, Markus" look on his face as he stood outside the arc and watched the chuckers refuse to give him the rock. Why doesn't Izzo rein them in?

He had a double double.  Sparty lost a conference road game.  0-for shooting 3's.   Izzo now has a plan for. practice for the next couple of days.   More worried about Malik Hall than Joey.

Yeah, did they ever say what Hall's injury was -- reinjuring the same foot maybe? He was just starting to round back into form, so that sucks.

Joey was used mostly as a decoy/court-spacer today vs. Purdue. Stood outside the arc so his man, usually Caleb Furst, had to stay close. He was 1-of-4 from 3 and finished with 10 pts, 5 reb, 1 asst, 2 TO in 38 minutes. He mostly guarded Furst, an unathletic non-scorer.

Joey did make a nice driving And-1 that temporarily put Sparty ahead with about 5 minutes left.

Joey had a solid game against Rutgers. Continues his strong shooting this season.

Sam is mired in a deep slump and now out of the rotation . Not a great situation . Luckily has a guaranteed contract
