My umpire friend who was in bad shape and on a ventilator is back home from the hospital and recuperating.

He is hopeful of making a full recovery, and he's even talking about getting back out there this fall, which is great to hear!

My old roommate's father just came home this week after 64 days in a hospital and rehab facility including 12 days on a ventilator in a coma.
It made Connecticut state-wide news because (here's the Scoop tie-in) my old roommate's brother is a basketball coach for Albertus Magnus College.

We just got back from visiting our grand-twins in Chicago. One of them started running a fever on Sunday, and it spiked on Monday to near 104. They took him in yesterday for a test, just to make sure. Just found out it was negative!

Thank goodness for him ... and for everybody who has had contact with him, including his brother, his parents and us!!

Is this the comedy magazine from my childhood?

I believe it is a tribute to that magazine, which as a kid, I always thought of as a cheap Mad ripoff.

Good website, though.  I look at it almost every day.  It's mostly a humor site, but they occasionally do stuff like this.
Have some patience, FFS.

My wife is a pediatric RN for the largest hospital group in the Southeast. Today, all of the doctors, and many of the PAs, nurse practitioners and RNs, staged a “white coats for black lives” memorial for George Floyd and other victims, as well as a show of support for those still trying to persevere through systemic racism.

At the designated time, each took a knee for 8 minutes, 46 seconds.

The doctors and many other health-care workers did it outside on the grounds so everyone passing by in cars or on foot could see them. Others who couldn’t get outside took a knee inside the hospital.

My wife said it was an incredible sight and experience.

Two months later.....the $1billion LLC is $1.6 billion. And $146 million in start small grants have been given out.

More transparent than the federal government, it would appear.

Pretty funny. Allison and her younger sister have been hilarious since they were kids. Not at all surprising

Whatever one thinks about Tom Crean, one long term  positive he gave to Marquette was bringing Barb into the organization.

Milwaukee nuns hosting drive-through beer garden to raise money for charity

https://www.jsonline.com/story/entertainment/beer/2020/06/29/drive-through-beer-garden-milwaukee-nuns-raise-money-charity/3277902001/

There's only one Milwaukee beer garden pouring Ale Mary.

The School Sisters of St. Francis are back serving beer as a fundraiser this year but with a coronavirus pandemic change: The beer garden is one-day only.

With respect to social distancing, it will be a drive-through event from 2 to 6 p.m. July 11.

Guests can pre-order a Beer Garden in a Box, which includes a 64-ounce growler with a choice of Sprecher beers or root beers along with two commemorative 2020 beer garden pint glasses, two 5-ounce take-and-bake soft pretzels and a jar of Sprecher gourmet spicy brown mustard. The box costs $50
