I was surprised how much I liked Invincible, but IMHO it's not in the same league as The Boys.

My son said the same. After we finish Jack Ryan, that's next on our list.

As for Jack Ryan ... I can't believe we hadn't watched it before we started about 2 weeks ago. It's like 24 ... except with good acting.

Apples and oranges, IMO.

Invincible is a darker take on a classic graphic novel type story.  Its gritty and surprisingly gory and dark, but its awesome.  Its also a whos who of big names voice acting which is pretty awesome.  Nearly every character is someone notable behind it, and not just a notable voice actor.

The Boys is a bunch of social commentary and tongue in cheek perspective on a classic superhero story.  I think they are aiming at completely different things despite both having "superheroes"

I agree with most of this. I wasn't the one who compared the two; after Galway made the comparison, I merely stated that I preferred The Boys.

One thing I might disagree with you on is that I don't think The Boys is anything close to a "classic superhero story." It's the opposite, which is why I love it. The premise is as brilliant as anything on TV: The superheroes who are supposed to protect "regular" people are corporate-controlled arseholes who care only about themselves, and many don't give a damn who they hurt as they pursue their own desires.

SPOILER ALERT -- THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN INVINCIBLE AND WANT TO SHOULD NOT READ THE FOLLOWING ...

I'm still not sure why Omni-Man decided to spare Mark and fly away. Given all that had transpired, it was completely illogical that he suddenly gave 2 shytes about Mark or anybody on Earth.

That was just one of many times the "good guys" should have lost but inexplicably didn't. I know that's fairly common in this genre, but for whatever reason I really noticed it with this show.

I still liked Invincible, and I agree that the voice acting was excellent. But again, I liked The Boys more.

I know I am late to the game on this but we just watched Mare of Easttown.  It is exceptional.  The writing is incredibly tight, especially in the last couple of episodes.   Outstanding series.

“We Own This City” began filming today in Baltimore.

It’s a limited series based on the book of the same name by Justin Fenton about corrupt police.

“The Wire” producers (David Simon and George Pelecanos) and writers are doing the project. (It is unrelated to “The Wire.”

It’s set in 2015, at the time of Freddie Gray.

Glad you liked it.

It's gonna be a heck of a battle between Mare and Queen's Gambit for limited series Emmys, as each was nominated for several -- especially between Kate Winslet and Anya Taylor-Joy. Anya got significantly more buzz and had a role that seemed to resonate with viewers, but Kate is Kate.

Yikes, reports coming out that (former Marquette student) Bob Odenkirk has been rushed to the hospital after collapsing on the set of 'Better Call Saul'. Hope he's ok

Mild heart attack.  Fortunately sounds like he is OK

Seeing Matt Amodio make this run on Jeopardy is pretty interesting to see how long he can keep it going.

I'll have to look for him the next time I'm walking around New Haven.

He knows how to gamble. He searches for the Daily Doubles and big money questions first. If a woman answers a question, she goes right to "I'll take ______ for 200, please.

What the hell does "a woman" have to do with this strategy?

Do you write mysogonist articles about Erin Andrews too?

Its been a good run, but he's basically just mirrored James Holzhauer's strategy.   Not that it isn't smart, its just not some innovation

They play it safe, generally. My wife had the same reaction so she watched a couple episodes. Both days, the woman went to the top row when she got control of the bord.

Most men do it as well, but it is not rare to see them go for the bigger numbers first.

Be well, Snowflake. I know you’ve been super sensitive lately. Probably at the top of the “political correctness” list on Scoop

Absolutely. I have spent years years and years saying that people don’t know how to “play” the game. Most people play it as a quiz show rather than a money accumulation show.

A must-watch if you are curious what a love scene between Stifler's Mom and Uncle Rico would look like.
Have some patience, FFS.
