Serious question, what seeding would that give us if the season ended today?

Net is only part of the seeding evaluation.

If they went strictly by the NET, 6. That said, I could see some teams behind us like Kentucky, Creighton, Auburn, and Illinois being seeded higher than us. I would put money on a 7 right now, but anything 6-8 feels about right.

A fun fact from last year. NC State final NET ranking was 33 and they did not make the tournament at all.

I believe we have enough quality wins to make the tournament, but am not sure what kind of seeding we will get.

They were the definition of gaming the system (interesting since no one knew the system at the time) and the SC saw through it. Of the 46 brackets on bracketmatrix.com to update since Tuesday, 45 have us between the 6-8 lines.

I could see Wisconsin being in the same position this year.

22 on net means a 6, maybe a 7 if they had to adjust locations.

Also maybe a 5, same reason.

Maryland, Robert Morris, USC, & North Dakota State all won. NDSU in blowout fashion. Jacksonville lost a game they should have won narrowly.

Stanford lost and dropped 11 spots. We also passed Kentucky & Penn State, who probably just didn't have as good of non-con results on the day.

By my quick review only 9 teams have played more quad 1 games than Marquette - of those Kansas is the only team not in the big ten or big east.

Marquette falls from 22 to 25 in NCAA Net Rankings after DePaul win.

Creighton made big leap forward from 25 to 14 with win at Villanova.

Auburn's win over Kentucky, and Stanford's win over Oregon were also big movers.

And IIRC, MU moved up after losing to Butler.  It's obvious--MU needs to lose out to get a high seed.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Other than Georgetown at home, it looks like every other game is Q1. For Q1A games remaining, 2 out of 3 are at home. We have a great opportunity to put a very nice resume together and climb seed lines.

CountryRoads

Nice to see Providence win and move up to 64. Be nice if they stay in the top 75 so that loss is only Q2.

Looking at the upcoming schedule the Big East is the only conference without any Q3 or Q4 games left on the schedule.  The Big Ten is close, except for Nebraska or Northwestern games.  It is crazy how the good from top to bottom the Big East is this year.

brewcity77

Providence moving up to Q2 is big for the resume. Been hoping that would happen for awhile. A few things to watch for this week from a resume perspective...

  • Kansas State: The Wildcats are #77 in the NET. If they keep it close against Baylor at home & Iowa State at Hilton, they could move into the top-75, for another Q1 win.
  • Purdue: The Boilers are #37 in the NET, hoping they move into the top-30 to add a Q1 win. They host Iowa & travel to Indiana.
  • Davidson: The Wildcats have won 4/5 to get into the top-100 of NET & become a Q2 win. Hoping they stay there, they are at VCU Friday.
  • USC: Big road trip for the NET #45 Trojans at ASU & Arizona next weekend. Need to stay top-50 to be a Q1 win.
  • Robert Morris: Unlikely to move up to Q3, but they are quietly trending toward the 1-seed in the Northeast Conference Tournament (league leader Merrimack is ineligible for postseason play).
  • Loyola-Maryland: This has been the biggest disappointment in my opinion, but Santi Aldama finally debuted & had 11 points and 3 assists in just 17 minutes as the Greyhounds got their first league win in almost a month. Worth watching to see if their fortunes improve with the Spanish NBA prospect now available.

They had two significant injuries that have just killed them. They were 9-5 before the second injury with all the losses being on the road to better teams. They lost their next 8 games. They did win Aldama's debut yesterday so maybe they turn it around.

Davidson winning by about 100 was nice, though.
