It appears that Monday's sell-off was a one day reaction to the first poor jobs report in two years.    Every now and then, those days happen.   Onward and upward.

Not that it matters long term but do you think the market will be higher or lower than today on Election Day?

August and September are traditionally down months for the market.   It is entirely possible that those trends will continue.  However, what would normally be considered relatively normal market behavior will be blown monumentally out of proportion for political hay.

I didn't. I put in limit orders on AMZN, GOOGL and a few others, but none hit. Tomorrow's another day!

Bought a little S&P (VOO) yesterday, and some fractional brk/b today (IRA account with a few dollars of dividends to spend).  I always do market orders.  Conviction 😋

Despite the hysteria that would make some think the market was closing up shop, the S&P 500 is up 10% so far this year. A double-digit gain over 8 months - yes, a true disaster!

Oh, and futures are up another 1% this morning.

Always going to be snap back rallies in mist of correction. Professional Traders make living off these through use algorithms.

My focus is for the most part long term.

This continues the recent trend of Mr. Market actually liking good news; before that, the trend was that Mr. Market preferred "bad" news because it meant the Fed was more likely to cut rates. I agree it has been a correction, the kind of event that takes place numerous times during most cycles.

See when I read stuff like this, it leads me to believe that the markets in the short-term are way too much swayed by factors that don't have a lot to do with the long term health of the economy. Yen carry trades have nothing to do with 99% of average Americans.
