Not even religious. I just don't get the Duane love. He was largely a disappointment and he left.

I'm just joking with you man. You have made your case clear.  Some feel it's more nuanced.  Maybe it's not Duane love—it's just no Duane hate.

Ok ok. I'll stop arguing then. 🙂

Duane was a kid who was all about the team and winning. Buzz red shirted him the freshman year due to the stress fracture, even though he could have played part of the way through.  The kid played hard and tough nosed basketball , had a very solid red shirt freshman season, then had some chronic leg injury problems the hampered his performance the next season.  His final season, Wojo asked Duane to take a different role as a Defensive stopper, which Duane went along with and was very much a supporter of the guys who took his time. It was at that point that I became a big fan of the kid. By the end of the season Duane was actually starting again which showed his character.  After he graduated, he had an opportunity to run the offense for a top 25 team and he took it, rather than ride the bench behind Markus and Andrew, I don't think he should be faulted for that. He left with the full support of the coaching staff .  A player only gets 4 years to play in college and they want to maximize the opportunity.

If I had to guess it's probably because Duane hasn't played organized basketball since he got hurt a year and a half ago.

Then he abandoned them.  Warrior title stripped.

Using this logic any Marquette alum that spent four years at MU, graduated, but then got a masters degree or even took classes from another school betrayed MU and no longer has the right to be a fan.

Why is it that because he played a sport that we hold him to a different level of expected loyalty? I agree that outside of his freshman year he was disappointing though.

Plus that hesitation move in my favorite mu game.

I like the TBT concept in general but think it could be executed much better. How about an all alumni division, a 30+ alumni division(previous poster gets the shout out for this), an open division and a ladies division.

It's all about money, sure but IMO ESPN doesn't monetize this to the extent that they could. Do all four divisional championships in Vegas during the Summer sports doldrums. I think it would be fun..

I think college hoops fans would embrace the college divisions..

Warrior1969

My only interest is to see MU players.  Much more interesting to see only alum teams.  Becky vs MU all alum teams?  Games like that would be interesting

They did the college thing to an extent with a bug east bracket last year. There just isn't enough college teams doing the tbt to make it happen. Marquette with a plethora of players cannot field a team of solely mu players.

Duane left.  Jake didn't.  The former isn't a Warrior.  The latter is.

Neither play for Golden State (though they probably could with all of the injuries these days), but if Wilson isn't a Golden Eagle then Wade isn't either. He still had eligibility left. He abandoned the 2004 team too, right?

If you graduated, you're a Golden Eagle for life.

Fluffy, you are SO WRONG on this ridiculous assertion.  You understand that Wilson already had a young child while at Marquette, right?  After graduation he went somewhere where he thought a 'one year internship' maximized his opportunity to provide for his family down the road.  Earning your Marquette diploma makes you a Warrior for life.  Full stop.

I'm not bruised and battered in the least.  I haven't changed my thought on the matter.  I do not cave into the groupthink mentality when it is convenient to do so.  I simply agreed to stop arguing about it, so I am.

And it would do you well to be less obsessed with me.  I already own your ass enough as it is.

Beat to a pulp fluff. Take the L. Do your typical walk of shame and own your idiocy. And next time, save yourself the humiliation and don't talk out of your ass (not that you'd know if you were or not).

Opinion still not changed.  And I said earlier, I am not arguing it anymore.

But you never actually argued it with reasoning. You just said he left and that forfeits his Warrior card. But failed to address how him leaving was any different than a standard student going somewhere else for a grad degree.

Repeating your point without explaining the thought process or logic behind it isn't arguing it's being stubborn

I really don't care enough to have any sort of logic behind my opinion. And I don't care enough to use logic to convince you otherwise.
