Watched the Irishman this morning.  Pretty good.

Started checking out crime documentaries available on Amazon Prime. Watched "77 Minutes" about the San Diego McDonald's Massacre. Pretty crazy footage from the crime scene on that one.

Just got finished watching  "One Child Nation" on Amazon Prime.  Horrific documentary about the One Child Policy in China produced by a woman who was a product of it.

I became interested after I watched "I am Another You" by the Chinese documentarian Nanfu Wang, which was a thought-provoking treatise on  the family dynamic on mental illness in the U.S.
Have some patience, FFS.

No idea it had a Madison connection.

No idea it had a Madison connection.

David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams  were childhood friends who grew up in Shorewood and went to UW-Madison.  They started Kentucky Fried Theater there, which spawned the movie.

They went on later to do the Airplane! and Police Squad movies.

I still think it's really good. There isn't a ton of competition, but PT&A is the king of the Thanksgiving movies.

I remember watching Raiders of the Lost Ark with the kids about a decade ago. They weren’t impressed. And it moves way slower than I remembered.

The change in movie pacing by decade is so stark when you go back. For me, most 60s and 70s movies, even ones I once loved, now feel unwatchable. The 80s and 90s are easier because I grew up on them, but they don't come close to modern films. I can't imagine what it will look like in another 20 years.

I’ve long since lost count of the number of times I’ve watched movies with my kids that just didn’t live up to my recollection and consequently fell flat with my kids. The most disappointing example was Fletch.

Thanks for the heads up.  I would have totally sold that as awesome.

Season 4 of Mr. Robot has been outstanding, the last few episodes in particular.
Sunday night's episode felt like such a series finale I'm curious how they're going to fill 4 more hours.

Thanks for this recommendation.  I have a personal connection to this story. My dad was navy at that time in San Diego. We actually lived in the same apartment complex as the gunman and we frequented that McDonald's. My mom says we weren't there at the time of the shooting because she had to change my diaper (i was 7 months old at the time of the shooting)

Hard to believe Disney missed out on the baby Yoda merch for this Christmas.    A rare miscalculation.    The profits from that alone probably would have paid for ESPN8, the Ocho.
