It is an anti look at me take and keeping in character for Jimmy.

You would know.

Another one of your brilliant retorts Fluffy.  The bottom line is this is a bad take from Jimmy.

No, it is not.

It must be June.  Have at it.

So if Jimmy is voted into the HOF do you think he'll decline?  Is he the only player in history that thinks "team first"?

Bad take, that's all I'm saying.

Don't care.

It is a bad take but you're right who cares.  He'll accept the instant the HOF calls.  No one should pay that comment any attention.

Okay....but it's a terrible take.

One of Chico's favorite tactics in a lost argument was moving the goalposts and bringing up something extraneous. What does Oso have to do with the Wes, Jae comparison? Different position, totally different player but when the apples to apples comparison fails let's bring in an orange. But if you insist on going there...

Scott Merritt was the quintessential complimentary player on the 2002-3 MU team. His numbers in your 3 cherry picked categories that year were 10.8, 6.6 and 1.5 - basically a push with Wes's first 3 year composites. Doesn't mean a lot, but neither does all the Oso bullish!t you brought into the discussion.

Lol.  This is a serious comment?  So the 17.5/8.4/2.1 is "MUCH BETTER" than the 18.3/5.7/2.5 , but the 10.8/6.6/1.5 is "basically a push" with 11.2/4.6/3.1?

Nothing if not consistent Lenny!

But yes, I'm the one "cherrypicking stats" by pointing to points, rebounds, and assists.  You know, the stats that are literally used for everything in basketball?  Haha.  But please, go show me a "Way Too Early Top 25" article that lists the win shares and true shooting percentages of each team's projected rosters, or as the stats that pop up on images during games when they show a player's season numbers.

Anyway, since I can't do anything but cherrypick stats by pointing out points, rebounds, and assists (who would ever look at such things?!), I'm going to go check out how Jae celebrated his Big East championship and maybe watch the highlights of all 10 Big East wins we got Wes's senior year!  I'll give you credit.  You'd never cherrypick stats.  You'll just straight make them up!

Wes was a complimentary player for three years and a standout for one. Jae was a complimentary player for one year and the POY for one. No contest, no debate except for someone looking for one.

He could've been both. Maybe he was very nice to his teammates in an effort to boost the collective self esteem.

Agree Muggs!  He's FOS about this one and will accept the HOF invite when its given.  In the meantime,  let him say stupid stuff. Doesn't matter.

In the wake of last night's draft I was looking over some stuff about Marquette players in the NBA. Even though Wes was my favorite of the "Amigos" it's hard to believe how successful his career has been compared to the others. A few random facts:

  • Wes has played in 950 games - second only to DWade (1054)
  • Jerel played six games in the NBA, DJ none
  • Wes has earned $113 million in the NBA
  • Wes has averaged 11.68 points over his career

Maybe everyone else realized this; it kind of snuck up on me. One of my favorite memories of my son back when he was at that age where boys believe they have a future as a professional athlete was after Wes signed with Utah and my son said, "I hope I don't get drafted out of HS so that I can pick the team that I want to play for."  I responded, "In the unlikely event you don't get drafted out of high school, I hope you'll give college a try for a year or two."

That was an outstanding response to your son. Love it!

Wesley Matthews is also 24th on the all time 3-pointers made list, only 6 behind Kobe Bryant

...never understood Wojo's strategy with JC. Happy for him now. Hope he sticks. He certainly looked good last night in the few minutes I watched his game.
