No team has signed Wes Matthews for next season. Wes may be getting some consideration from Indiana as a potential injury  replacement for Edmond Sumner

I love Wes, but he didn't have a very good end to his time with the Bucks and had a pretty poor series with the Lakers v. the Suns this year.

He's turning 35 in a few weeks, too.  I'm sure he'll get a vet minimum one-year contract somewhere this season, but I think his career is coming to a natural close.  And what a career it has been.

Especially with his Achilles injury right before a big potential payday. Although, he still did better on that contract than most thought.

I think Wes' professional career in general was better than just about anyone anticipated.  Even with the lessening of his "big payday" due to his injury, a career earnings north of 100 mil for an undrafted player had never been done before.

I believe that the 2021 Duncan Robinson contract surpassed VV, but in terms of lifetime earnings, Wes is going to be at or near the top of the list for a very long time.

VanVleet's current contract gets him within a few million bucks of Wes. He's only be 30 when the contract ends, so assuming he'll still be a valuable player -- which he certainly will be if he's healthy -- his career earnings eventually will pass those of Wes.

Regardless, it is quite a credit to our guy that he has had such a long, prosperous career -- better even than most Marquette players who WERE drafted. Wes was a fave of mine, and I'm very happy for him.

Who is the best NBA player to go undrafted? Ben Wallace comes to mind. I'm sure there's others but Big Ben has to be up there. Hall of famer, multiple times defensive player of the year, and a champion.

I think he's pretty much the undisputed number 1.  John Starks is up there.

I think with the G-League and number of players who start overseas and make their way back, its a bit different than just being undrafted and finding your way to an NBA roster like they did, or Wes did.

There are collegiate stars who dont even flame out, but just find their way out of the league after 1-2 contracts, 5-6 years.  So for Wes to not only stick as an undrafted guy, but play 12 years, is an incredible testament to him, his grind, and his durability.

While true, the $100M club was pretty small before Wes came into the league. Guys inducted into the Hall when he was coming in like Pippen, Ewing, and Malone barely cleared $100M for their careers. Stockton, Barkley, and Wilkins didn't get there. Salaries really exploded in the 2000s, so it's not surprising no one accomplished that before him.

Bruce Bowen would be another.

That's pretty sweet. Crean has the same one, but has him at the bottom holding that up like Atlas does the Earth.

The Hornets cut DJ Carton but retained his G League rights, so he could still play for their Greensboro entry in that league.
