Spoelstra on Jimmy:

https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-erik-spoelstra-advice-young-players-after-thrilling-game-5-finals-win/

Pretty simple.

Team JFB with hungry, team oriented hard workers who want to get the most of their talents and he’s an inspiration. Team him with entitled “me firsters” who don’t want to pay the price of winning and he’s a disruption.

Good for Jimmy.

If the Heat should win, finals MVP is obvious.
If the Lakers win, then it's time again for a member of the losing squad to be MVP.

Why? I hate LBJ, maybe my least favorite athlete ever. But he’s averaging 30 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 8 assists while shooting 58% from the floor and 45% from 3. Butler is averaging 29 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 10 assists while shooting 55% from the floor and 27% from 3. If the Lakers win there’s absolutely no argument for Jimmy Butler as Finals MVP, or anyone but LeBron.

The Athletic doesn't think Wes Matthews will exercise his $2.69M player option to stay with the Bucks next season:

Matthews rehabilitated some of his 3-and-D value for a dominant Bucks team, but let’s not get carried away: He’s 34 and had a PER of 8.1 this year, with league-average True Shooting despite taking mostly wide-open looks next to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. He might have benefited from a championship halo had the Bucks fared better in the postseason, but instead will face a tougher evaluation environment.

Nonetheless, it’s hard to see what the downside is for him to opt out. Matthews’ minimum salary as a 10-year vet is just under $2.6 million, and certainly somebody will sign him after he started all year for the team with the league’s best record. It’s just not clear if he can garner much of a raise, or if he’s looking at another 1+1 arrangement this offseason. Note that Matthews could also re-sign in Milwaukee on a one-year deal that gave him a 20% raise as a non-Bird free agent, which would earn him slightly above $3 million. Verdict: No

Also, The Athletic doesn't see OKC picking up Deonte Burton's $1.66M team option.

Of the three young Thunder wings with team options, Burton seems by far the most expendable. He had a PER of 4.3 in 39 games and shoots 22.5 percent career on 3s. Ou est le passeport? Verdict: No

Wes going to the Lakers is good for MU’s  NBA , would have been nice if could have stayed in Milwaukee but if he is starting out on the Coast that should be good visibility .

Will be interesting to see where Jae ends up . I think he is looking for a multi year deal , which he definitely earned. I don’t think the Heat will step up for that many years so he may end up at one of the Texas teams , Mavs, Spurs or Rockets or even Golden State .

Hoping for the best for Juan hanging on to his roster spot with the Warriors. Although he played well with mouth for some other team to give him a shot.

Henry will need to keep working on his Defense if he is going to get another chance .  He will keep tearing up the G League on the offensive side.

Former MU Deonte Burton was waived by the Thunder

Jae deserves it, and that's a great landing spot for him. Suns definitely a team on the rise, and Jae is a winner who will help them move up in the West.

I hope Henry Ellenson is able to get one more shot at the NBA. I think he has done a good job over the last four years polishing his offensive game.  He is now playing as a stretch 5 and still has his great instinct for rebounds. Henry is also still relatively young from an NBA perspective and has experience.   His lack of defense is what is holding him back.

Lack of defense has been a persistent problem with Wojo’s players/teams.

But if Henry is ever going to be a “stretch” anything (even a 5) in the NBA he’ll have to shoot it better.

I think Henry worked hard to improve his shooting and it much better now. Although you are correct if he was to make it in the league as a pure shooter he would have to take it up another level for sure.

Henry's issues with defense have nothing to do with Wojo.  He spent less than a year with Wojo.  He's been a professional player for five years.

Henry just got picked up by the Raptors on a 2-year min deal with $50k guaranteed. "Effectively a camp deal with a small guarantee"

Henry played well for their G League team, but I think he is no longer eligible for two way deals since has had 4 years in the league.  Hopefully he does well in their training camp and can stay within their organization.

Looks like Juan has an opportunity to fill the final roster spot as two way player at  Golden State per this article if he doesn’t earn it in regular course.

The article Is mainly about Nico Mannion being  a second round pick for the Warriors and signing a two way contract . Nico had a strong freshman year at Arizona.  This is the same deal Markus and Ty -Shon Alexander ,who were free agents , got . There is some upside to this , if Nico , Markus and Ty-Shon can perform , They can go straight to a big contract the way Wes and Jae did , and not have to wait 4 years like a first rounder.

I hope Juan earns his spot again with The Warriors

Jae had to wait two years unlike Wes as a second round pick who had his option picked up.

Going from an undrafted player to a seven-figure salary in year two, a la Wes, just doesn't happen very often.

Wes' story was as remarkable as it was unique. If I recall correctly, he was the highest paid player from his draft class in his second year because Portland front-loaded his free agent contract with $9.1M in the first year of the deal, 2010-11. That same season, #1 pick Blake Griffin made just $6.3M including incentives. Suffice to say, it's pretty rare for the undrafted guy to ever be making more than the #1 overall pick.
