My wife, who doesn't like war movies in general and usually likes movies to have some sort of romantic sub-plot, loved Dunkirk.  (A war movie with no romance.)  And yeah it was loud, but loud for effect.

A movie about a bunch of men who are trapped in France and you don't think there's any romance going on?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Yes. Have power to the switches too, but can't even get the LEDs on the side of the switches to light up.  Tried switching up the wire positions too.
Do you know if the 3-way wire is all the way clear through any junction boxes?  That would probably screw it up along the way.

Unlike conventional switches/dimmers, you need a neutral for these puppies, and most people mix up the travelers (3-way wires) with the neutral - that is if there's even a neutral in-wall.

GE makes a dimmer that doesn't require a neutral, but reviews are mixed.

I returned my Lutrons and went with Levitron z-waves instead.   Z-wave eliminates the need for a traveler, so if you don't have a neutral in the switch box, look for one in the other switch box and tie it to the traveler if there is... the 3-way is now a neutral and you can put your dummy switch anywhere.

Jimi Hendrix is technically a one-hit wonder.

I would have guessed "Purple Haze" was the hit, but it was "All Along the Watchtower"

Actually I knew that one.  Touch of Grey.

My personal favorite on-hit wonder song is In a Big Country by Big Country.  Today.  Tomorrow it will probably be something else.

But back in the day, those classic rock dudes didn't really push singles.  Led Zeppelin had only one top 10 hit in the US.  Whole Lotta Love.

An awesome song!

And although it isn't his writing, his performance of the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock was incredible.

There were a ton of one-hit wonders once upon a time.

"2525" by Zager & Evans.

"Red Rubber Ball" by Cyrcle.

"Horse with No Name" by America.

"Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas.

And so on and so on.

But I do get the earlier point. Hendrix and the Dead were iconic rockers, unlike any of the above.

America was hardly a one hit wonder.  They had seven top 10 hits from 1972-1982.

Sister Golden Hair, Ventura Highway, Tin Man, You Can Do Magic...

Dunkirk was solid, a bit hard to follow with that English accent.

But the previews for IT and the new Kingsman movie was pretty solid.

That was the last song played by ZMF as it went off the air. An appropriate selection.

Milwaukee's airwaves were never the same. Save for Ron Cuznor it was a dismal after ZMF died.

Actually saw the Cyrcle as an opening act - along with Bobby Hebb ("Sunny") - for the Beatles at the Chicago Amphitheater in 1966. They performed their 2 hits ("Red Rubber Ball" and "Turn Down Day") and then did a medley of Beach Boys songs. Pleasant voices, lightweight performers.

Growing up in Menomonee Falls, I listened to ZMF in my high school days. It closed not long before I graduated.

Parked across from my station this morning..... a minivan with Wisconsin plates and UW and ND stickers in the back window.    That person would have to go so far for me to not hold them in contempt.

They actually played Purple Haze after that. I have the last 24 hours ZMF broadcast on cd. I lived a mile from ZMF.

Ugh. Disco Dead...

My favorite Dead year is 77 but having said that I love 80s Dead. When Brent came into the band it was a shot of life. That organ and his backup vocals brought a whole new sound. Granted 84-86 were the worst of Jerry's heroin days but otherwise the 80s rocked. Lots of great tunes coming outta those years. Big 90 and 91 guy too.

Again though, late 70s is my jam

Keefe, have you checked out Dead and Company? They're phenomenal. Best off shoot of the Dead IMO. I've seen most of the off shoots and I was at Fare Thee Well and while it was amazing, Dead and Company blows them out of the water (music wise, the scene at Fare Thee Well was top notch).

If you haven't seen them yet, do it. John Mayer absolutely slays on guitar. I'm not a fan of his solo stuff but he's proven that he's the right man for the job when it comes to Playing In The Band
