Irish whiskey for me.  Really like the Bushmills 16 year.

Is she the one who wears a braided chain made of the finest silver from the north of Spain?

If it's Islay I prefer ardbeg, I feel that laphroaig over peats their malts. But yes single malt over everything. For the record it'd be whisky though if it was Scottish

Doc,

Serious question: Where does Laphroaig fall on the verboten grain scale?

So, I assume its made from barley which is a grain and contains gluten. Therefore, not something I'd be interested in drinking.

Yep.

And a locket that bears the name of the man that Brandy loved.

Irish whiskey for me.  Really like the Bushmills 16 year.

Bushmill's is the better of the standards. (Their Red Bush takes me back to a sassy lass from Cleveland who lived at Cobeen. I was able to confirm that her fiery red mane was indeed legitimate. I needed tweezers for a week.)

If you are looking for a stellar Irish I might recommend Method and Madness. A superb single malt that is a perfect late night accompaniment to John Coltrane.

My personal favorite is Connemara's single malt 12 which is always a very limited release. I favor the Islays and this whiskey is a full throated, peaty symphony on the palate. Hide this bottle as friends in the know will drink it up on you.

I avoid this issue by making sure I don't have any friends.

My wife has a friend named Brandi.  Once I said to her that she was a "fine girl," and she about ripped my head off.

I mean good lord what do you expect?

Brandy is a fine wine, not a liquor. It is to be muddled gently with fine fruits such as orange peels and bottled-aged maraschino cherries marinated in bartender's sugar water in the same manner that JayBee affectionately cuddles his Furby at bedtime.

I've often been tempted to ask a girl I know named Jenny if her number is 867-5309.

+1000 for the Connemara recommendation, I have a bottle sitting in my decanter right now. It's described perfectly by Keefe and can hold its own against any islay. If you aren't in for peaty then Redbreast 15 or Teeling is the best value of Irish though.
