Meh. I'm sure glad I never did anything stupid when I was young.
There's a huge difference between stupid and reckless.

Meh. I'm sure I never did anything reckless when I was young.
The value of value is valueless.

So without much to do this Independence Day weekend, I decided to dig back into some ancestry research I've been doing.

I mentioned somewhere here previously that I had already discovered two great x 7-grandfathers who fought in their respective colonies' militias during the Revolutionary War. Today, I traced back to find the earliest ancestors to documented have been born in 'the Colonies.' So far I have found six great x 9 - grandparents born in the Colonies between 1630 and 1657 (and died between 1697 and 1745).

To put that into perspective, these people were born, lived and died in the colonies before the revolution really even began in the 1760s.

Any of y'all have Revolutionary War-era (or pre-revolutionary colonial) ancestors?

MU Fan in Connecticut

Yes.  My French-Canadian side immigrated to Quebec in 1634 during the Percheron Immigration.  The Quebec Colony was dieing out until this event.  I even share a name with one the immigrants.  They meet Samuel de Champlain and attended his funeral.
My grandfather and many of his relatives came to the United States during the Great Depression after the family Trading Post near the border burned down and they lost everything.  No Insurance in those days.

First record of my surname is from Maryland 1662.

Was just golfing by one of those old school logo Arby's a couple weeks ago. How many are left?

There is one on Packard Avenue in Cudahy.  Pre or postgame stop for Scoopers.

Dang. The Limited Edition 24K Gold is already sold out.

This probably shouldn't surprise me, but...I had no idea there was enough gambling on Ukranian table tennis in New Jersey for the state gaming commission to even care.

Some nights are good nights for the grocery store rotisserie chicken.  Polishing off about 3/4 of it was probably not the best idea.

You know what the worst value in a grocery store is?

Whatever red Delicious apples are priced at.
They should be free.

I think the worst deal is eye drops.   It's like a 2 oz bottle for $7.

$224 per gallon.

Don't know if it's the same for eyedrops, but aren't glasses/lenses the biggest monopoly in the US? Wonder if that trickles down to eyedrops as well.

Ask your wife how much she spends on all those tiny little bottles/jars of makeup products sitting around.  Here's an example:

But hey, it's BOGOHO right now!

So Glow is not considered to be the quick wit in the family, so I have to give him kudos for this quip today.

We were on I-94 driving up to Hayward, and near Rice Lake, I noticed one of those blue tourist information signs was blank after whatever verbiage that had been on the sign was obviously painted over.

I said to Glow, "I wonder what that sign used to say ."

He responded, "Rice Lake - Home of NBA star Henry Ellison".
Have some patience, FFS.

Well that explains why they painted over it
