The thread by Cheeks on the MU-UNCC game in '77 got me thinking about all-time great "buzzer-beaters." I used the term in quotes to include other sports for purposes of discussion. What were the best (most exciting/most important/most well-known) game-ending moments you ever witnessed in person?

For me, the top would clearly be Whitehead's game-winner in '77.

In second place (but probably remembered by more people), I'd put Doug Flutie's Hail Mary to Gerard Phelan. Such an incredible back and forth game between two great offensive teams, ending with an iconic play.

[As an aside, I should be able to list Doc's halfcourt buzzer-beater to beat ND in '81, but decided to spend an extra day or two at my girlfriend's parents' house in Miami for Christmas break. In hindsight, a big price to pay for an extra bit of sunshine.]

What about you?

What  bunch of effin idiots.

But wait....were God's team, just ask us.

I need to meet the magnificent bastard who invented yoga pants.

Looking back, it is probably a good thing they weren't the thing when I was at MU. Unless they made yoga pants with tractor seat designs.

Going full creeper here.  Is there a reason Wally Ellenson would be in the Pewaukee, Wisconsin Menards? Very tall man looking just like him walking with a young woman wearing a Detroit "Bad Boys" sweatshirt.

His doppelgänger if not him.

Especially since their store-wide 11% rebate was a couple weeks ago.

Just did a news search on him, and he signed with a team from New Zealand this week. Their season starts in late April, so it's not that unusual that he'd spend time in WI before heading down under. As for why he'd spend time in Menards (if that was indeed him)...anybody's guess.

Do only fathers of daughters notice subtle change in the Northwestern Mutual commercial where the daughter yells "Daaaaddd" while the dad is mowing?  Originally when the dad contemplates his life, she growls "uuuuhhhh".  It used to make the hair in the back of my neck stand up.

Now she silently types on her phone.

What's f#cking bizarre is that his answer to recalibrate his life is to put in a swimming pool.

There is likely some Jungian insight in that.

I am a father (but not of daughters), but have several nieces and I noticed it.  I actually wondered why they changed it.

Originally, she yells, "Daaaddddaaa", which my family thinks is hilarious because my daughter had a friend who said it the exact same way when they were growing up.  Not sure why they would change it.

Was glad he mentioned the difference between newer and older beavers.  Insightful.

I love LPL's videos .. it's just astonishing how quickly he picks every lock out there.    It'll be this huge behemoth of a lock and he'll pick it in <30 seconds .. childs' play.

I mean, I get it, he's the Michael Jordan of lock picking .. but wow.  He makes it look so easy.

And apparently, all Master Locks are just complete garbage.  Might as well use a zip tie.

Seems like the extra twisting motion is pretty much wasted on his wife's beaver.

Hate that commercial! I noticed the change immediately. My kids, when younger, would turn the single syllable word "stop" into a multi-syllable torture device.

Just one of many reasons to hate that commercial.

UK offers Cal a "lifetime deal." Coaches as long as he wants, then would be a paid "ambassador" after. Nice gig....

I noticed the newer beavers were a product of Brazil.
