I would miss you all.  My father refuses to buy a computer or smart phone and leads a full life.

My dad mostly does too, though how much does the internet handle that we don't think of? The electrical grid comes to mind. And how much more will be internet reliant in 20-30 years, when our parents generation will be passing but we'll still need to function in society.

But an arm is an arm.  I would have to give up golf, coaching, and firefighting.   Pass.

Have some patience, FFS.

I showed my father in law Youtube today.  He was freaking amazed.

Also, he's had some surgery that's made him .. unbelievably full of gas.  Like he was farting every 3 minutes.    After the 80th fart, I told him he had to say "what does a duck say?" before each one.

Thanks, NM thread.

The portal is NOT closed.

Nah.  Too much downside.  Not enough upside.  Pun intended.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I couldn't do my job without it. All our reports, staffing, time cards, equipment ordering, and email make it essential to daily operations. I need the internet more at work than I do at home.

Interesting conundrum I heard yesterday: Would you rather...
  • ...lose an arm?
  • ...lose use of the internet for the rest of your life? (Bear in mind, no one else loses the internet)

With New Years coming up, my favorite annual train wreck event is almost here. There's no better unintentionally funny event than the Chicago tv affiliates local New Years Eve shows. While I miss Chi-Town Rising and Mario Lopez having the look of "the check clears at midnight, right?", the ABC and NBC local shows still deliver great laughs.

The two cringiest NYE shows:

2. Mariah Carey a couple of years ago, when it was exposed that her high notes were dubbed in

1. Dick Clark awhile back when it was painfully obvious he had not recovered from his stroke.

I overhead the ABC promo, I don't think I heard Giangreco or Davies listed. They were pushing the Terrell and Cheryl pretty hard.
