Risk is the worst game in human history.

After 4 hours we had to invent rules to make it go faster.  Another hour, no one won and we all quit hating each other with the force of a thousand suns.

Nice job, Hasbro.

Use the app it's faster and less personal. I played my fiancé for the first and only time on the board and she got pissed at me whereas we play on the app all the time
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Monopoly can be pretty brutal too. My daughter has always been Type A+++++ at the game, and to my knowledge never lost (or at least she never admitted she lost). After she and her boyfriend played a couple of times, she asked us to take their game home. When we asked why, she told us she really liked the guy, and was worried the game would jeopardize their relationship.

I always liked Monopoly, the orginial version of the game. I know there are various versions. A game we have been playing more in recent years that has gotten pretty fun is Taboo. Highly recommend with a fun group.

The Sultan

We play multiple family games of Catan every Christmas. Put it away and trash talk until the next year.

Definitely agree - if you're gonna play, it's the original version or GTFO. And if you have a fun group, it's a great game. Just be careful that your 'fun group' doesn't have any 'Monopoly Nazis' like my daughter.

Risk is awesome, until you have to shake dice non stop later in the game.

A great example of a sentence where a comma could make all the difference. This is either a bad thing (i.e., you all hated each other after playing) or a good thing (i.e., you all reconciled after playing).

Reminded me of:

Nothing more fun than getting liquored up with your extended family and playing "Cards Against Humanity".
Have some patience, FFS.

Done this twice. Once with my parents which I might still be scarred from. Once in England with my cousins and aunts and uncles, their version is much crazier but somehow nobody was uncomfortable.

My family always plays games on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  While Pit was the favorite for a long time (my grandmother who died a few years back at 102 introduced it to us), the most popular games now are Code Names, Secret Hitler (which is a blast if you have people with the right mindset to play it), Taboo and The Chameleon.

My daughter plays this with her friends, so I said I'd get it so we could play together sometime. She replied "this isn't the kind of game I'd ever play with you and mom."  ;D

He always struck me as kinda odd (at least based on the press coverage), but man, what a great name!

Meh.

The folks in the next multiverse over have been doing this for decades....

MU Fan in Connecticut

I keep seeing that Geico commercial with Tag Team serving ice cream and singing a version of the song that may actually be written for here.

"Scoop, there it is.  Scoop, there it is."

I told my wife that I was going to sing that when getting ice cream tonight.

She ignored me.

There is a Reason Jay Bilas said as long as MU stays in the Old Big East MU will be in the Big ‪Dance. When MU Joined the Old Big East Mr Cords literally whispered in my ear MU will be very good for a very long time. After Marquette joined the New Big East Mr Lovell literally whispered in my ear Do not worry about it it is only basketball. ‬

I was wrong. We are back as of a couple years ago BUT I was wrong we are not close to Old Big East back. In the Old Big East we rarely lost by over 10 in the regular season. We have recently lost 2 games by more than 10 Ugh.

Mike got teleported from another thread. Once again, Scoop is leading edge.
