I'll be interested to see how much tick this kid actually gets. My guess is less than 10 and we see him on the transfer market next year.

Maybe. And if it does maybe the work Wojo did will pay off then.

Egor Koulechov scheduled to visit Florida.  Last weekend he visited Oklahoma.

Would have liked Baker

Hope he likes riding the pine just as much

We'll see.  The one thing Kentucky lacks most years is a lot of shooting.  Just off the top of my head Monk is the best shooter they've had in a while.  Willis had the reputation of being a shooter, but meh if you ask me.  Tons of size and athleticism is always at Kentucky.  Shooting is not.  Baker can shoot the rock.  I think he contributes right away for them.

Let the man get his tropical vacations in Florida out of the way before he comes to the not-quite-as-frigid-as-it-used-to-be Midwest.

Yep, and he's got 3 more visits he can take before he decides. Lets keep our fingers crossed one of those is marquette.

Baker is going to be a four year player and would have been much better off with us. Such a waste of a good neck.  Hard to make a sale like that to a kid though. Wish him well.

Speaking of Mark Miller, he just tweeted out a link to a timetable for Joey Hauser's commitment.

Unfortunately subscriber only - does anyone have info on this?

Not a subscriber and don't know what it says, but he has said he wants to make a decision by the start of his senior season.  So my guess is he'll make some visits this summer, maybe attend a few UW and MSU football games for free, and then commit to Marquette in the fall.  I mean, then make his decision.

After Kentucky recruits over Baker, we will be in a position to get him on the rebound.

Especially since we don't have Luke on the boards

Name: Joey Hauser

School: Stevens Point

Club Program:
Iowa Barnstormers

Class: 2018

Position: F

Height: 6-8

Weight: 210

WisSports.net Ranking: No. 1 in 2018 class

Strengths: Size, versatility, skill, poise, unselfishness, passing, ball handling, rebounding, shooting

Weaknesses: Shot blocking

Notes: Key player on Stevens Point teams that have won the last three WIAA Division 1 state titles ... First-team all-state selection by the Association Press and Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association following junior season ... Older brother, Sam, just completed freshman season at Marquette ... Father, Dave, was an outstanding player at Oshkosh West and Minnesota-Duluth ... Ranked as a five-star recruit by Scout.com ... Can score from the perimeter and with his back to the basket on the low blocks ... Excellent ball handler and passer ... Averaged 23.6 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 2016-17.

Scholarship Offers: Bradley, Iowa, Iowa State, Marquette, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, Virginia, Wisconsin

National Ranking in 2018 Class: No. 17 by Scout; No. 31 by ESPN; No. 32 by 247 Sports; No. 37 by Rivals

In His Own Words: "I haven't cut down my list, but Iowa, Marquette, Michigan State, Virginia and Wisconsin are recruiting me the hardest. I'm hoping that I'll make a decision after the AAU season. If I feel like I know where I want to go before then, then I will decide earlier."

Bottom Line: Without a doubt the prize recruit in Wisconsin in a very talented 2018 class, Hauser follows in the footsteps of recent state high-school standouts Vander Blue of Madison Memorial, Sam Dekker of Sheboygan Lutheran, Kevon Looney of Milwaukee Hamilton, Diamond Stone of Dominican and Henry Ellenson of Rice Lake as a top 50 player nationally in the 247 Sports composite rankings. Some believe Hauser will join his older brother, Sam, at Marquette, but do not discount Michigan State and Wisconsin, which also remain strong in the chase for the versatile forward.

Cal values athleticism more than anything. Shooters aren't quite as important. They had the Wiltjer kid that transfereed to Gonzaga that couldn't get enough minutes in Kentucky.

Agreed, but their lack of shooting has cost them and will continue to do so.  And Baker isn't exactly lacking in athleticism.

Kentucky has had some pretty good shooters over the years, especially the past two with Monk and Murray.
You could also toss in Doron Lamb and Devin Booker.

As far as costing them .... eh. They've been Elite Eight or better six of the past eight seasons. They're not exactly hurting.

When you are preseason number 1 or 2 every year E8 isn't the greatest season ever.  Sure for MU that'd be amazing.  But for Kentucky and the 1 and done factory it is?  Not what I think they hope for.
