I don't care weather da transfer is traditional or not, ai na?

Was this an attempt at racial humor or a serious analysis of our roster balance?  Never mind.  I know the answer.  ::)

Sic em Wojo. Froling would take me from nervous about next season to fairly confident

Sounds like Dayton is also in the mix.

The trip to Dayton has been cancelled per Evan Daniels tweet.

Nice, thanks for the info.  Looks like we got a real shot - I like it.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I don't think his game is like Gardner's at all.  I believe he is more of a step out and shoot kind of guy.

I don't know what his game is like. I've never seen one second of him in person. I just thought that scouting report - nimble inside with good post moves despite being slow and overweight - sounded like Davante.

I wasn't trying to be at all negative with my post. It was just information being passed along.

I hope we get him!

So just a little counting review.  IF we sign Froling we consume a scholarship currently slotted for '17 leaving TWO left.  Here's how I'd handle those two: 1) available for a '17 Frosh (like Elliot) OR a traditional 'sit out' transfer available after the season, and 2) a Graduate Transfer or an open slot sliding that into the '18 class.  As thing stands now, we have only one available for Spring '18 and it's clearly being held for Joey.  I'd like some flexibility to continue to actively mine that year for a big time player probably at the guard position.

Glow, correct me if I'm wrong, but if we take Froling and Elliot this year.  That would leave us with 2 open slots for 18, correct?

That would likely be ideal and would leave us with room for Joey and a PG.

At least for me, this is a premium article that I don't have access to.  Key highlights?

I googled the article name and got it.  Basically he just said he was disapointed in his role at SMU, and he is going to take his year off of games to work on getting in the best shape of his life, which he know he needs to do.  Knows he can play at this (any was what he said) level.

That is correct.

JR:  Folling, Anim, Hauser, Howard
SO:  Eke, John, Cain, Elliot
FR:  Bailey

Two openings.

That assumes we take ONLY Froling and Elliot this year.  There's one more slot available for a kid starting school next fall.  My assumption on the chart is that all slots are used for multi-year players.  So a grad transfer that only 'rents' it for a year would create availability for an '18 recruit.  Think of that additional slot as movable between the two classes unless used for a single year by a grad.  Said another way, don't expect ANOTHER Frosh beyond the two players mentioned if both come to MU.

Also leaves a spot for a grad transfer for next year, which I think we'll need.  Froling would give us the ability to go after both C/PF and SF types.  A more traditional SF may actually fit well.

You are correct.  For next year

SR: Duane, Rowsey
JR:  Heldt, Haanif
SO:  Folling, Anim, Hauser, Howard
FR:  Eke, John, Cain, Elliot

Leaves room for a grad transfer.

If MU were to get both players mentioned, Wojo should be satisfied and focus on 2 for 2018.  A grad transfer would be overkill and would cause roster issues.

Yeah with Frolling there would be no glaring holes on the roster either.

And, college basketball roster turnover being what it is, it is nearly a guarantee that there will be a third scholarship available for 2018.

Likely because he realized it was Dayton.

Okay, I just looked at Oregon State.  First off they're awful, totally bottom of the Pac 12.  Second, they have 3 guys, two current Frosh and a Soph who are 6' 10" or taller.  I have no idea what Froling is thinking or what his motivation is but if I were him I'd listen closely to what Wojo has to say.

Thanks Glow, and agree, if these two sign don't expect another Frosh.  Would do a good job of balancing the roster.  Go get'em Wojo (and Stan).

He's listed as a small forward on 247... not sure if misattribution on their part, or wishful thinking on his...
