Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Or maybe we just didn't prioritize French as heavily as we did John, Cain, and Tillman. I'm glad there's a backup plan in the form of Epperson and having an open scholarship isn't a bad thing.

There's also a chance they pursue 2017 freshmen and transfers and still come up empty. Having this roll into 2018 when we are after some big fish like Joey Hauser, Race Thompson, Courtney Ramey, and Ayo Dosunmu isn't a bad thing.

And Prentiss Hubb, Quentin Grimes, Tre Jones, etc.

As I've said before, I think Wojo can be selective with just one spot left.

Plus, now that Wojo has seen a couple weeks of practice he has a better idea of what MU has next year.  Hauser is bigger and looks good.  Sam may well be the answer as a stretch 4.

Cohen and Anim matchup with smaller, quicker teams.  Maybe Heldt plays with John or Eke when MU needs to go big.  French may have been redundant with John and Eke committed and French doesn't have the outside shooting to space the floor.  So French is an undersized 5 competing with 3 bigger players.

Not saying French won't be a good college player, but I don't quite see the fit given MU's roster makeup and other commitments.

I think it is pretty hard to classify SLU in that manner.

Is it? Pretty solid 2017 recruiting class. I'm just saying, sports are cyclical.

I guess I usually wait for results on the floor first.  They are coming off two straight 11 win seasons and just hired a coach who won 12 games last year.

I mean if you are going to call them that, wouldn't Marquette be more up and coming since it strung together two top 25 recruiting classes?  SLU's 2017 isn't even ranked that high.

Pretty solid = two kids, one four-star and one three-star; class ranked 35th overall.
I mean, it's pretty solid relative to St. Louis' recent past, but no, two solid players doesn't suddenly make them a program on the rise.

"Program on the rise" isn't saying much — other than they haven't been very good (SLU fired its head coach), and there's pretty much nowhere to go but up (after going 8-28 the past two seasons in A10 play).

Hiroshima. The transition is complete

Not true at all.  As TAMU indicated, other factors. Best of luck Mr. French.

I like having 12 players on the team anyway, the 13th player is never happy.  Unless you are taking a total project, and I think you have one in Eke already.  MU has
done well with transfers the last few years.

There have been some guys at MU who have been rotation players who couldn't do some of the things Eke can do now or a month ago from this video.

Someone asked about an Epperson comparison.  I think he is a more athletic version of Brian Butch at this point.

Kids got some bounce.  Looks more polished offensively than I thought he'd be, but always hard to tell from highlight videos. I thought Juan Anderson was the next coming, so I've learned.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

The kid does look athletic for his size, no doubt. It will be interesting to see how he develops in the Big East. He may need to work on his shot fake, both on the video were pretty clear-cut travels (to teal or not to teal?).

I know it's not true. I'm certainly not a chicken little when it comes to these things.

More just continuing our running "hiroshima" and "becoming SLU" jokes.

Ford is off to a very good start with recruiting. He is doing more in a very short amount of time than some did in many years there. He still has a long way to go. Jordan Goodwin in particular was a great get for them because he is a high profile local player. And he has connections to several other higher profile local players. Hiring Corey Tate paid off immediately.  Marquette will be fine. Tip your cap and move on.

I think Marquette just lost to Saint Louis. Program on the rise.

There was your first misstep.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Let's not be too quick to shout him down.  I think he's totally right that SLU is 'a program on the rise' after all from the "We're #49!" thread CBS has them ranked #278 - SLU literally has do direction to go but up.

jsglow

So I assume we're 'all quiet' on this front until the November signing period opens.  Keep your ears open guys.

SLU just picked up another local star player today, Carteare Gordon. He picked SLU over Kansas and Missouri as his final three. He is also well connected to other local high profile recruits there including a few Marquette has recruited, and in some cases, are still recruiting.

Wow, I like Gordon a lot.  Watched him with Markus at the U-17.  We had been recruiting him previously.

Like I said before, sports are cyclical. SLU is a program on the rise (at least in terms of recruiting).
