Nelson has been watching him a lot from what I have read. He got a scholly offer late spring/early summer if I remember correctly.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Been looking for a long while. Better than his brother Michael (Illinois)

Is there serious interest from Finke and Grimes?  I assume there is from Hauser and Herro.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Matty V with the latest update on the scheduled Official Visits.

Thanks for sharing.  A good summary on our visits and each player.  The only thing more that is needed is the Crystal Ball for each player.

Not sure everything is quite up to date on the JS article, but....

...anyway, Theo's out in Cali now...

Odds suggest we get one of those four. Tillman would be my first pick, followed by French. With Eke already on board, I honestly don't expect to land more than 1 other power forward.

Xavier Tillman is a very intriguing player to me. Strong body, soft hands, active around the rim, good passer, high motor. Might still be growing. Just based on the few videos I've seen, my main concern would be his lack of athleticism. If he turned out to be Davante 2.0 that would be a pretty good problem to have.

2016 South Florida signee Troy Baxter was released from his Letter of Intent today, per a source. Eligible for this coming season.

Power Forward.

He wants to be a Chris Weber-like player.   I've seen him play high school ball.... on his HS team, he likes to get the ball at the elbow and look for a teammate.    His jumper isn't great yet, but his form isn't bad.    Playing against the skinny 6'4 kids, he almost looks reluctant to beat up on them sometimes.    I would love to see MU land him.

In the video MFiNY posted, I think he is playing against Deyonta Davis, who played last year at MSU and then declared for the draft.    Tillman was a sophomore.    I saw him last year as a junior at Grand Rapids Christian.   I honestly cannot think of a player at MU in the last 30 years that would compare to him.    A skilled, 6'8 widebody.

JB, might you give us a little rundown on him if you are able?

Was ranked #90 in ESPN and #110 by 247.  6'8" and long and athletic.  Rather slender at 183 lbs.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

After watching more videos, reading more articles, and talking to a few more people, my very amateur opinion is that this should be our priority list:

1. Xavier Tillman
2. Jamal Cain
3. Theo John
4. Hashan French

Any combo of the four would be a very solid class. FWIW, I think we have the best shots at Tillman and French. Like Marcus said, I think there is a high probability that we get at least one commit this month. Wouldn't be surprised with two.

I'm not always a fan of adding immediately eligible players this late in the game. Can mess with team chemistry and they start way behind everybody else.

Since it is such a position of need, I think I'd be happy with this one. Hope wojo will kick the tires.

Playing against the skinny 6'4 kids, he almost looks reluctant to beat up on them sometimes.

I'd rather him show no mercy and crush them, but maybe that's just me.

He certainly seems to be a good player, and we need more of those.

On another note ...

Interesting how relatively low-ranked these 4 kids are, given all the good programs recruiting them.

Whenever I look on one of the scouting services websites, after the top 20 or so players, I disregard the rankings and look at the list of schools that are after them.

Give me the guy ranked #95 who is being chased by Kansas, Arizona, etc. over the #40 guy who is being pursued by mid-majors.

Once you get past the elite guys, I think it mainly comes down to a scout's preferences on whether a guy is ranked #40 or #95.

Appreciate your thoughts. Anything approaching Chris Webber (Michigan Mr. Basketball, McDonald's All-American, AP All-American) would be amazing. Hopefully he's not thinking Chris Webber-like in terms of accepting a couple hundred grand from a booster.
