Marquette has more than held its own with in-state recruiting.  Since 2000 there have been 29 RSCI top 100 players from Wisconsin:

12 chose Marquette (Hauser, Ellenson, Heldt, Cohen, Burton, D. Wilson, Blue, Maymon, Matthews, Novak, Diener, Merritt)

7 chose UW (Pritzl, Koenig, Dekker, Anderson, Hughes, Stiemsma, Butch)

10 went elsewhere (Stone, Looney, Thomas, Fischer, Tokoto, J. Wilson, Lucious, Smith, Brown, Morris)

Of course two of those that went to MU transferred out (Maymon, Burton) but they were replaced by two that transferred in (Fischer, J. Wilson)

I agree with this. Overall we've crushed with in state recruiting.  Also was Novak not a top 100? Or did his family move to Wisconsin after he went to MU?

Not really a tradition. 2015 Ellenson, 2013 Luke (transferred in), 2009 Maymonn (transferred out), 2007 Christopherson (transferred out), 2005 Matthews, 1993 Peper, 1990 Key.

7 out of 35 years and two of them didn't even stick around.

2013: Luke. 2015: Ellenson. 2016: Hauser. I'll take 3 out of the last 4. Whether you call it a tradition or not isn't important. Bringing in some of the best talent that Wisconsin has to offer is what matters.

Novak played for his dad the head coach at Brown Deer HS, IIRC.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Weird Stan Johnson tweets last night. Obviously we have no idea what he's talking about here (or if it's even relevant to MU), and reading the tea leaves of tweets is sketchy, but still ....

I would say a transfer (doesn't make any sense) a de-commitment (Eke is our only committed player). Neither of those seem likely.

Could also mean something positive like, Wojo told Lewis that if he worked and got better at certain things that he would offer. And Lewis put in that work, and Wojo offered.

Of course, it probably means nothing.

Proof positive that Brendan Bailey is only 50/50 to honor his commitment!!!!!

My guess: someone may not be putting in the work they promised to put in this summer.

I see what you did there.

I thinking it's not recruiting related, just because I don't think that you take a chance on burning bridges there at least before it's over.

Hmm...sounds like Stan respects the process but doesn't always think it leads to ideal outcomes.  A lesson for us all.

Pretty effen impressive, if you ask me.

Negative mopes can always find reasons to criticize. Getting 70% more top-100s than Bucky did in the same period is meaningful.

7 out of 35 26 years and two of them didn't even stick around.

First, FIFY: It is 26 years, not 35.

Second, we got 3 of the last 4.

Third, look at Sultan's top-100 list. Crushed Bucky. (Having said that, I wish we would have parlayed this into Bucky's consistent success, especially the recent Final Fours. Gotta give credit where credit is due.)

Call me crazy, but I like to accentuate the positive -- especially when the positive is accurate.

If he's publicly calling out a 16-21 year old kid, especially before anything may be announced about whatever situation there may be, but at any point, he probably shouldn't be in the business that he's in.

Hmmm. Marquette has been posting weekly Wojo videos, this week's just came out and its focus is on assistant coaches. Except, no mention of Stan Johnson.

The one caveat about this list is that there are certain players that UW or MU didn't have any interest in, or had interest in but it was clear they weren't interested in the other program.

So who were the players that had both MU and UW in their final five and selected MU?  Blue, Matthews and Novak?  UW looked at Diener, but went with Devin Harris instead who surprisingly wasn't top 100.  UW had no real interest in a number of these guys.  (Burton, Duane, Cohen, etc.)

I think Butch is the only one of the UW players where MU was a "finalist."  Many of the others committed early, or at least eliminated Marquette early.
