Evan Daniels just posted an article on Scout about Joey. Here is the snippet on Marquette:

"I know them really well with my brother going there. It's a great school. It's a basketball school. So that makes it more appealing. I just really love Marquette."

Man, do I like the sound of that.
Thx JB.

I hope Flory is able to find a home that fits his skill set.  Maybe he should  start looking at the bottom schools in D1 or possibly even options in D2 or D3.
Injury has been his bugaboo.  Sat out last season with back problem(surgery?).  If healthy, he looks to be a mid-major player from what I saw of him at the WBY Shootout when he was a soph.

It's a battle of love: does the brother or the coach win the rose in the end?

As much as I love my brother, if one of us played at MU, I could see the other going to UW to further the sibling rivalry.  I could also see my parents excited about us each having our own college experience.

The problem with this is MU and UW often play at the same time, which makes it hard for parents to see both play.

Wojo offered Matthew Hurt. 2019 superstar. Plays up with D1 Minnesota 17's

Looks like we'll be competing with the big boys for him.

Well, you become a Big Boy by beating the Big Boys.  At recruiting and on the court.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

I think Hurt is one of those guys that you almost have to offer if you are a major school in a neighboring state.

I doubt Wojo thinks we have much chance to land him.

Another guard eh. For 2017 I was hoping for more of a SF, PF, PF, C class. We are really stacked at guard with really solid players, we however have some solid holes at PF and C after this year.

I am aware of Ike. But we need another PF imo.

Webster Groves (MO) 2018 PG Courtney Ramey lands #Marquette offer

6' point guard ranked #76 overall in 247's composite.

6'5 guys are big enough to be SFs at the college level. I don't know this kids game or body type but Wes was 6'5, lazar was about 6'5.....hell Alando Tucker was 6'5.

MU is well aware that they need to land some additional bigs in this class. Thus the focus on Tillman, John, and Epperson.

William Douglas @youngkid_will picks up another offer, today from Marquette @johnvarlas #GoBrothers pic.twitter.com/21yja8D90i

Class of 2017 6'5" guard from Memphis.

Interesting.  Don't see a lot out there on this kid, but if he's truly a point guard he's got a lot of size.  Some big time offers, too.

Darryl Morsell, a class of 2017 SG playing for Team Melo (MD), just picked up an offer from Marquette.

BM1090

Marquette just offered Terrance Lewis.

Hope that Lewis has a great season brings another high school Mr. Basketball to Marquette. We need to keep the tradition going.

I believe Terrance is in the tradition of some of the better players in the Crean/Buzz era and in some respects is throwback to the type that Al used to recruit.

He is going to have a big Senior season.

Not really a tradition. 2015 Ellenson, 2013 Luke (transferred in), 2009 Maymonn (transferred out), 2007 Christopherson (transferred out), 2005 Matthews, 1993 Peper, 1990 Key.

7 out of 35 years and two of them didn't even stick around.

All depends on the time horizon.  I'll take five in the last eleven years as a strong performance--especially given that Wisconsin only landed 2 over the same timeframe.

Two of those five left us, one didn't want us initially. I just don't think we've done as great with mr Wisconsin basketball as people might think.

His dad will make sure of that.

Marquette has more than held its own with in-state recruiting.  Since 2000 there have been 29 RSCI top 100 players from Wisconsin:

12 chose Marquette (Hauser, Ellenson, Heldt, Cohen, Burton, D. Wilson, Blue, Maymon, Matthews, Novak, Diener, Merritt)

7 chose UW (Pritzl, Koenig, Dekker, Anderson, Hughes, Stiemsma, Butch)

10 went elsewhere (Stone, Looney, Thomas, Fischer, Tokoto, J. Wilson, Lucious, Smith, Brown, Morris)

Of course two of those that went to MU transferred out (Maymon, Burton) but they were replaced by two that transferred in (Fischer, J. Wilson)
