Quote from: MuMark on Today at 11:17:02 AMSammy Jackson has MU as a school he wants to visit

Hmmm....interesting
As he starts to take visits and narrow down his options, Jackson will be keenly aware of how each program also uses the transfer portal. While he's ready to work for his minutes, he at least wants to be sure that he'll get a fair shake early in his career.

"You can't really look at a lot of these rosters at high majors because so many of them are going to the portal," said Jackson. "Some of them don't even want to recruit high school players anymore so it's about going to a school that while they may be recruiting out of the portal, you will have a chance to fight for minutes. I'm not saying I need guaranteed minutes but I at least want to know I have the ability to fight for minutes down the road.

MU82

Quote from: tower912 on Today at 12:06:03 PMLove that.  However, historically at MU, Shaka does not hand out minutes to freshmen like orange slices at a soccer game.
But, two straight interviews with recruits who aren't as interested in what, say, Pitino is doing.

Shaka doesn't "hand out" minutes, but he definitely loves when freshmen "fight for minutes" - Jackson's words. And he rewards those who show enough fight (and skill, obviously). Kam averaged 18.5 mpg as a freshman, Chase 16, Royce 15, Stevie 11, Ben 8, and Jop 7.

I wouldn't be surprised if James gets decent PT this season, and maybe Stevens, too.

Yep....Shaka has had 1-3 freshmen in the rotation ( to at least some extent) in every season he has been at MU.

Now Norman and Zaire were certainly on the fringes as Sophs but even they played about 20% of the minutes.
