I feel like Shaka has a type with respect to 6'7 -6'9 kids who weigh between 180 and 200 and show they can shoot a bit, and I'm here for it.
He does.  With the success of Justin, Omax, and Oso, he has shown how he develops and uses players like that.  I doubt Shaka lands many aircraft carrier types.   That isn't where the NBA is going.  But we can clearly see that in the not too distant future, MU will have nearly positionless teams of switchables.  5 guys between 6'4 and 6'9, all of whom can handle the ball and defend multiple positions, while playing a 5 out offense.

That would be very exciting basketball, and hard to defend against.   It really would be Offensive Havoc as opposed to Shaka's traditional defensive havoc!

Shaka probably would say that it could be (or even should be) both.

Sons of basketball alumni often want to set their own course.  Wes Matthews Jr. chose Marquette over Madison where his mother and father went, this time it worked against us.

I think playing time might have also been an issue too.  Damarius Owens, Chase Ross, Zaide Lowery, Kam Jones, David Joplin, Al Amadou, Tre Norman and Stevie Mitchell in theory all can play the 2 or 3 also and all are either proven to be really good players or have the potential to be really good.

Hence why I think it will be easier to land Ethan Lathan or Josh Hill over Kon, Sir or Isaiah as there is a clear path to playing time at the 4/5 vs the 2/3.  Plus both players are long and can run and have to know that the way Marquette plays is a great fit for them vs. teams that like to slow it down and focus on half court sets.

I also thought it was interesting that Faisal had not been back to campus until his son's official visit. Maybe he just wasn't all that close to MU to begin with.

No shame on losing out on a recruit to UCONN...

BCHoopster

Except you have to play against him for a few years!

I'll believe it when I see it. This would be a pretty quick and furious comeback by UConn.

Isaiah Abraham is down to his final four.

Marquette
Providence
Connecticut
Virginia Tech

It will also be interesting to see where his cousin chooses as well. MUBB was the only school in his final list that didn't recruit/offer both players. I know his cousin has recent offers from Duke, Michigan etc...as well to go with several others.

Not going back to campus in 25 years was a red flag. Probably doesn't have the strongest affinity to MU.

Don't worry scoop taught me that Duke doesn't care about winning so he won't go there.

I don't think we should read too much into this. If Faisal had negative feelings about Marquette, it's unlikely his son would have taken an official visit and made MU one of his finalists.

Sounds to me like Shaka is burning a lot of bridges with alumni.  Between this and Jim Butler, one wonders what is going on

I know a lot of MU alums that haven't been to campus in decades. Many of my housemates from the '80's became more wrapped-up with their kids' schools...Syracuse, Pitt, Clemson, MI State, West Point etc. Heck, I live in the MKE 'burbs and have only been on-campus to drop off auction items for the Blue&Gold Fund, so not sure that even counts.
