Anytime people start discussing recruiting classes before they even start at Marquette, I remind myself that Marquette had 6 Parade All-American's (top 40 recruits) in the 1980, 81 and 82 recruiting classes.  Glenn Rivers, Dwayne Johnson, Mandy Johnson, Walter Downing, Kerry Trotter and Lloyd Moore.  They had moderate success at best. 

The moral of the story is that you wait 4-5 years to evaluate a recruiting class.

Agreed Lenny there are concerns.  However, the only other choice besides supporting the team and the current conference would be to root for some other school in a football conference.  I'm assuming you are not suggesting that we have better options or that you were blind stupid or both for attending MU back in the day. We all have to hope for the best outcome with conference realignment.  If the worst case scenario occurs eventually and we are relegated to some Division 2 league it will be a shame.

Stay positive.  One of our resident doctors of dentistry is bashing MU and it's future prospects.  He seems a little embarrassed of his degree, his alma mater, this basketball program and this conference. You don't have to defend him.  We all understand where he is coming from and there is no solution to this particular gripe but to keep pushing MU to be the best it can be on and off the court through our fandom and financial support. 

Everything may still shake out in our favor.  You never know.

For several years, Kentucky has had more first round picks than the Big East has had first & second round picks in same year. Big East is more of a player development league vs, an NBA talent league.

The Big East has been quite successful the last decade after the reorganization.  Villanova has carried a lot of the weight but that isn't much different than Duke and UNC carrying the weight of the old ACC.  The Big 10 doesn't have a national champ since 2000.  The Pac-12 since 1997.  The Big XII has the last two and the league might be here next year or it might be a Frankenstein.

The Big East has added Shaka Smart, Sean Miller and Thad Matta as head coaches in the last year plus.  Will they succeed?  I don't know but let's not act like the league is circling the drain.
