My son lives just outside Columbus Oh, I asked him to check on Sean Jones.  Gahanna High School.
Says he is the real deal,,,very quick, sees the floor, good shooter and just outstanding young man.  Thinks he will be the point man at MU next year.  OSU was after him big time.

Ohio State didn't offer Sean Jones.  They have a 2022 point guard recruit from Georgia who they had gotten a commitment from so they didn't offer Sean.

I think Jones is going to be very good but I'm not sure how much interest OSU had. My memory is that it was either us or Xavier.
I don't know anything about his recruitment but I don't see how OSU wanting him and his final decision between X and MU are mutually exclusive.

Ted is right.  They may have made initial inquires, but OSU was never seriously involved.

I don't doubt that. Maybe it was me but it sounded like OSU couldn't have been after him since his choice was X or MU. That sounded silly, but I must have misinterpreted the statement.

OSU knew they didn't have a prayer trying to get him away from Xavier or Marquette.

You are going to take the negative view, because as Kevin Hart says, "that's what I do".  Here an article from 2 years ago that illustrates the college coaches view of Sean Jones.

Marquette had a lot of success from guards deemed maybe a little on the small end from Ohio in Tony Miller and Aaron Hutchins and also from a guy who grew up a few miles to the west, Dominic James.   All 3 of these guys won a lot of games for Marquette and if you have seen game film of Sean Jones, you will think he will join this list in winning games for Marquette.

No!

Joyless Willie will not allow any positive thoughts about Marquette basketball, or really any subject at all.

During their magical run in the tourney, Loyola's point guard was asked about which report of his height (at least 2 versions were being floated in the media) was accurate. He laughed and said something like "On a good day, I'm 5'8", but the test of the time I'm 5'7"". As Muggsy will happily point out, do not underestimate a short basketball player. They can make up for being "vertically challenged" in other ways.

I didn't want to make a new thread for this, but this also isn't the best place to put this. But what players have been advancing in the Tournament that Marquette was in on?

Did we recruit Jalen Wilson on Kansas? How about Jaylen Williams on Arkansas? Definitely went hard after Kendall Brown at Baylor. Did Dain Dainja even play at all this season? Obviously Jonas Aidoo at Tennessee. Others that we had a shot at?

Transferred after a game or two at Baylor. Didn't play at all this year.

Marquette was in Jalen Wilson's top 6.
MU also was in on Julian Strawther (Gonzaga) ... made his final list.

Stan having a horrific defense this year and having guard Joe Quintana take off dribble three all season long is something to see. He's team this year gave me PTSD.

DaRon Holmes had a strong first season at Dayton. They were an NCAA bubble team that landed in the NIT. But Holmes averaged 13 and 6, and led Dayton this season. Former top 50 Stan Johnson recruiting target.

So for those that know better than me, what are realistic expectations for S. Jones this upcoming season?  More of a rotation player (15-20 MPG)?  Possibility to compete for the starting PG role?  Specialist ( 5 - 10 MPG)?
