Mane is bizarre. He was good enough to get almost 9 min a game in 10 games with the Magic, but then only 5.5 pts a game in 22 min.  Meanwhile, Rowsey was pouring in 14 a game in 26 min.

It's surprising that jumping directly from Vanier College to the pros as a 20 year old takes more than just raw ability?  He got a look solely on potential for a team going nowhere.  And did nothing while he was in Orlando.

The Sultan

Yeah it is pretty obvious that Mane should have gone to school.  Too big a jump for him.

Bates to Indiana.

Given the transfer rules, I hope that he ultimately ends up here down the road if he chooses to leave IU at some point due to their fanbase or fit reasons. Seems like a great kid with a strong game and amazing potential.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I really doubt that Duke will be taking anyone other than Theo (who didn't count against the roster cap anyway) from MU.

Quote from: burger on April 17, 2021, 05:51:33 AM
Why does he not count......The way I understand it......He only does not count if he stays at his present school.....

Quote from: brewcity77 on April 17, 2021, 05:53:22 AM
burger is right, Theo will count at Duke. Had he stayed, MU could've gone over the scholarship limit, but no other program can go over to take him.

Actually you guys are both wrong.  When I said Theo didn't count against the roster cap ANYWAY I was pretty clearly talking about Marquette's roster cap, i.e. Marquette's not getting any schollie limit help from Theo leaving.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Marquette's staff, along with UConn's staff, have both reached out to Top-25 junior Chance Westry, he told @stockrisers. East Coaster who plays his high school ball out West for Sierra Canyon.

Shaka's just recruiting him to get close to Bronny James.

Good player to take a chance on.

An East Coaster out west at Sierra Canyon? Isn't that the plot of City Slickers

Looks like Maryland has been after him, wonder if Haynes is lead on this.

Even better. Haynes is definitely the guy I want on an East Coast recruit combo guard.

Isn't this where we complain about the coach wasting time and resources by recruiting a top 25 kid from out of state?

Haynes wasn't much of a recruiter for Maryland. His primary role was actual coaching and he did it extremely well with 3 guards legit NBA prospects. Maryland's top recruiter is a guy name Bino Ranson who was named one of the country's top assistants. He also handles the mid Atlantic where Westry is originally from. Also. Haynes definitely worked with Morsell but had nothing to do with his recruitment and was only there for two of his four years. Not a slam dunk they have a great relationship.

within a 12 month span it was... is he going to Michigan State, coming to Marquette, going pro?...to potentially out of the game altogether!
side note: I noticed no team anywhere picked-up Brendan Bailey since he left MU.

Not true.  He's played a few games for TFT Skopje (North Macedonia) recently.  Although I don't see any starts past Apr 5.

Has anybody heard even a peep about Shaka reaching out to Patrick Baldwin, Jr.?  I have the impression that that boat had sailed, but a couple of guys I know say there was a tweet or something about it last week.

There was some chatter that Baldwin Sr was going to be an assistant coach. That didn't end up happening so I think that ship has sailed.

Why is the Baldwins' talk even here on this board? * A dude is going to leave a head coaching position to be an assistant?  And then his talented son will follow? This is just stupid and can't believe this is getting this much airplay here! Wow
*after typing this I know why it's here of all places, but I mean come on, wake up

Rodney Terry literally just left a head coaching position to be an assistant.

But to truly figure out why it's here, and why it spread through the local AAU & HS scene so quickly, figure out who gains from that rumor that appeared out of whole cloth last week after Shaka's staff was already determined but not yet announced.
