It's as I have said before, kids are supposed to be committing to the school, NOT the Coach/basketball program. They rarely do anymore, that's why there are so many transfers.

No they aren't. They're not choosing the school, they're choosing the basketball program.

Its changed man. Kids go where they think they have the best shot at the Association. And, they think that's the likely outcome if they pick the best coach and program with the greatest odds of getting there. Chit, they'll matriculate at Walmart U if Calipari is coaching there. And its not because they dig the toy department, aina?

I think we could be more strategic about recruiting kids for our 8 to 11 spots on the roster - I'd rather go for the solid three star in that range who is going to put in work, be fundamentally solid, and be happy to contribute to the team however he can (Matt Heldt) as opposed to the fringe 4 star with "upside" who is going to transfer mid-season if he isn't getting 1-7 man minutes and wreck a roster.  The season is long and you need depth - and you need guys who are happy being on the roster just as depth.

Which is exactly what i said, they are SUPPOSED to be choosing the school(and everything about it including the BB program), not JUST the basketball program/coach. When they sign a NLI it's to xxx University.

Nnanna Njoku, C, Sanford School
Njoku is in the midst of a strong junior season. That certainly continued on Saturday, where Njoku pumped in 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Njoku is a strong, tough and physical low post prospect. He brings value with his ability to rebound and finish off plays in the paint. He also has potential as an off the catch shooter, as he has fine mechanics and a confidence shooting the ball from mid-range.
Recruiting: Marquette, Miami, Wichita State, Villanova and Pittsburgh have prioritized him.

Marquette has a position available.

Most transfers occur with no coaching change. So I think that's not the main reason.

Yeah, these kids shouldn't be making their choice based on school. They have a full time job. It's to be an athlete.

For those that sign an NLI, they attest to choosing the institution. It's clear as day.

These kids who don't should be arrested!

I imagine that if he didn't get it earlier, Wes understood Crean's choice better when Portland offered him $34 million.

Different recruits commit for a wide variety of reasons. This certainly is one of them.

Dexter Akanno?

If Marquette ultimately fails to land Mane, Dexter will be needed for much more than bench depth. I really hope he ends up being bench depth.

Can't a case be made that Cain, Elliott, Theo, and Sacar all fall in that category?

Marquette was recruiting at the Hoophall Classic today in Springfield, Mass. Among those playing, Sunrise Christian and 2021 Kendall Brown.

I've said it before, but Brown is definitely on my "biggest wants" for the 2021 class.
