Recruiting as of 4/15/25

So it's obvious Wojo is focusing on 4...Davis, Garcia, Brown-Ferguson(likely reclassify to 2020), and Mane. Now, I don't think it will happen, but we need to understand it COULD happen that he gets none of them. So then what?? I know many of you will see that as no big deal, but wouldn't questions have to then be asked?? You started the class tremendously well, but in recruiting the most important thing you have to do is finish..what if he doesn't?? Don't we then have a right to be concerned??

Crazy-ass idea but maybe we wait and see how it plays out?

Yeah, they get recruited over, but year in and year out, they keep getting high ranked recruits. We should be in the same boat, with our budget, history, resources, etc. But alas, we are not.

Of course we would have a right to be concerned.  We would have four scholarships open (assuming no mid-year transfer).  Of course we could fill some with traditional or grad transfers, or even a late spring signing.  But even then that's no guaranty.

But let's see what happens.

I'll believe that when the regular season starts and teams actually have to list the real heights of players.  There's no way whatsoever that a guy like JJ Barrea is 6' like he's listed.

Steve Nash was listed at 6'3".  I have a picture with Steve Nash and am at the absolute max an inch and a half shorter than him.  I'm certainly not 6'1.5".

Are they actually going to list real heights this year?

So let's say Wojo guides this team to a round of 32 but misses out on all four? Then what's the move? I just want to make sure we have all our reactions pre planned

I believe the NBA has a new rule that requires teams to list actual heights of the players.  During the Bucks preseason game against the Mavs the commentators (maybe even Novak) were talking specifically about Barrea and his listed 6' height and how they won't be able to do that this year.

But I don't mean to turn the recruiting thread into an NBA height thread.  The point is, he's a 4 star, 17 or 18 year old high schooler.  I'd be shocked if his ultimate goal is to play in the NBA.

But yeah.  I would think any guy who signs with a P6 school has that as their goal.

Other than the two top 100 forwards already in the fold, the 4 guards already on the roster who will be around next year, including a top 100 PG and a senior.    MU needs to keep recruting, obviously.     And getting Davis would be better than not getting Davis.    Just like getting Garcia or Mane is better than not getting them.    Excuses?    How about... Roy did the hard sell on him and it worked.     That would not be an excuse, that would be a fact.   

Right on. We already have four talented guards on next year's roster.  We're in good shape.  Each team can only have 13 players. That's it. They all can't play for NC, Kentucky or Duke.  Marquette should be able to get our fair share of talent. And we do.  By the way, bet Roy won't be coaching in 4 years.

He will work hard to sign 1 or 2 transfers in spring.  He has been pretty successful in getting a player or two that way.  They have 9 players, so
if they sign lets say 1 more frosh, then 1 transfer or grad student, then you have 11 which to me is a good number every year.  The sad part for
him is that he can not bring home kids he really works hard at recruiting.  Davis has been to MU twice plus I bet he has been to his high school a ton of times.  Davis is a small guard, he has 3 big guards in the mix the following year, they will be fine either way.  More importantly he needs to signs a big, no back-up right now.

I have no idea if Davis is coming or not, but Big Daddy implied that some good news is on the horizon. If we end up losing him, there is no silver lining and I hope we do not see dozens of posts of excuses on why we lost him.

Osa is a swiss army knife of a player.    Offensively, can play anywhere on the floor.    Can guard a lot of positions due to his length at the high school and AAU level.     However, he cannot defend Big East 5's until he puts on about 40 lbs of muscle.
