No Niels

As long as Suggs is in play for us Niels was probably not going to happen.

Hopefully Niels stays in the Big East at Xavier , Cooley& Company or U Conn.

Crean will be working the order hard.

There are 50 open offers for 1 spot at Florida so will be interesting to see how that plays out, since Myles Stute has them on his final 7 as well.

Very cool!
So now in addition to Marquette offer he has Notre Dame, Wichita State, Auburn, Seton Hall, VCU, Kansas State etc. Stock is rising after strong UAA performance.

A shot in the dark as to who Marquette seems to be most involved with on July 27th, 2019 and not necessarily an educated opinion.  Numbers could be way out of reality.

1  Dawson Garcia
2. RJ Davis
3. Nimari Burnett
4. Osasere Ighodaro
5. Coleman Hawkins
6. Myles Stute
7. Gabe Madsen

I'd include Suggs, even though Gonzaga is a heavy favorite.   Marquette watched Zed Key and Keith Dinwiddie in the past few days.  Maybe still involved with Bridges.  Agbo is another one I think Marquette is after.

Probably a few more.  I think the list is about 15, possibly more.

Daishen Nix narrowing his list soon...I don't have a subscription but apparently in this article he talks about a potential visit to MU.

Here's a video talking about him wanting to visit MU

Hopefully we can stay in the running for this recruit along with RJ Davis. There are only so many blue blood offers to go around.

Named Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas and MU as the schools he wanted to visit. Sounds like he doesn't have a UK offer yet but if he gets one it seems that would be a done deal.

I wonder if Boston's commitment to UK yesterday changes this dynamic for Nix.

Glad X is hanging in there for The Big East.

However , Like I said before , my instinct tells me that this is the type of kid that wants to go to a Power 5 Football type environment.

Miami and Ohio State are two just after ND and UW for me.  Can't stand either of them.  Ohio State went way off my like radar during the NCAA tournament when we played Syracuse.  Can't remember the year, but it was in Cleveland.  Ohio State had the opening round against George Mason.  OS was heavily favored, and playing a home game.  There was one small section of GM fans, and they were having a ball just being there.  The OS fans were the most abusive I've ever witnessed in any sport.  Total lack of class and sportsmanship.  I think they beat them by 50 (+/- a few).  Just continued to abuse those GM fans.  Hope the kid does take Xavier.

That said, MU upsetting Syracuse more than made up for it!

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Goes to show just how much coaching relationships matter in recruiting. With Brett Nelson we are getting an official visit. Without Brett Nelson we don't crack top 10.

I hate Pitt for helping with breaking up the old Big East.  Their crappy basketball team pleases me.

Demotivator. Poor leader. Etc. Such a good narrative
I'm not one of the guys who bashes Wojo or says those things about him, but I'm not sure what landing a recruit has to do with being a demotivator or poor leader.  That, if it does happen, comes AFTER you sign the player.

Too bad, I really liked his game.  I agree with TAMU that Nelson was a key in Bridges recruitment.  The West Virginia native gave us an in, but obviously that's gone now.

On to the next one.

So with that news we can officially close the book on Nelson.  What was his final recruit total?
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

It is hard to say what his total was. The bottom line is his recruiting achievements were sufficient in the eyes of his peers in the industry to be able to land a very solid first head coaching opportunity ( according to Patriot League Coaches Holy Cross is tied for second best in the conference)
