Then go out of state.  I really don't care where a kid comes from as long as he can play.

If someone can prove me wrong, please do.  The last Wisconsin native, before Matt Heldt, to play all 4 of his college years at Marquette was Wesley Matthews.

Does Cam Marotta count?? I kid...I kid.

Right now my biggest concern is next year and how they intend to use the scholarships..and on that note, if Jayce Johnson is going to commit.

Wisconsin, the state, is more provincial then most places I have lived.  There is this "thing" that if people from the state don't stay in state is shames some folks....never understood it.  Factor in then statewide flagship allegiance from citizens who never spent a second of their life enrolled at Madison, but count the 7 years they did at Stout as part of the Badger club, and this adds to the dynamic.  The fact of the matter is most (not all) the elite of the state the last 20 years have left the state.  Very few exceptions stayed in state to play at MU or Uw-Madison.  I don't care where our kids come from.
I agree that Wisconsin is provincial . However , It does have a unique character that other Northern and Midwestern states don't possess.

As far as basketball recruiting goes it is always important to have a sound footing in your home state . There are just some kids who want to stay close to home.  That said , aside from the unusual bounty of talent in 2020, Wisconsin is generally only a source of a couple of kids each year  that are truly high major starters. So MU really needs to have a super regional and national focus.

Buzz did a good job of getting us in the mix with the more athletic local kids and Wojo was able to access the Big East viable less athletic local talent. Unfortunately he threw a couple of local kids under the bus along the way which was a mistake. Would be nice to see us get at least one kid from the local 2020 athletic group.

You keep saying locals kids were thrown under the bus and don't provide any evidence of this.

If I had to guess, they'll wait for Johnson's decision and possibly add Torrence.  If Johnson doesn't come, they may try to get involved with another grad transfer or maybe they go into next season with 10 scholarship players and Torrence as a redshirt.  Just a guess.

This seems logical, although they are involved(who knows to what extent) with a couple of traditional transfers as well (Jemarl Baker & Warren Washington), granted that doesn't help for next year but it would use scholarships.

Not a peep actually...I was kind of thinking/hoping there would be news of a commitment tonight, but that's looking doubtful at this point.

Bo won some recruits over us, lost some to us.  Both of us lost out to other schools.  Is what it is, recruiting 101.

Overall, Marquette has out recruited Wisco big time.

I would generally agree despite the pant pissing comments here.  That said, Uw has had great success with their system.  Of course this will lead to accusations that I support Uw-Madison

I feel that Bo's recruiting was one of his underrated talents. He may not have landed the marquee names, but he was great at getting guys that fit his system and developing them. It's easy to say they lucked into some guys, but doing that repeatedly with Leuer, Nankivil, Berggren, Kaminsky, Happ...that's more than luck.

Plus guys who were willing to be developed. Very few transfers.

I think it would help for next year. We need to practice against good players.

The guys who are willing to be developed are, without fail, the guys who HAVE to be developed. I'm starting to think that seeking non-precocious 3stars is the best MO for almost every program not named Duke or Kentucky.

Bo recruited incredibly well and did so to a system for which he had a recipe.  Like him or hate him the guy was a helluva coach.  Excuse me while I go vomit now...

Any help on the way?

Yep. This is the only question that matters right now.

Wojo needs a great class for 2020. More importantly, Marquette needs a great class for 2020.

I hope the crickets on here is not an indication that the mega 2020 recruiting class is going silent. Also, seems like the grad transfer talk is dying down. That one baffles me. Plenty of PT to throw around to a good grad transfer. That should be an easy sell.

The crickets are due to the recruiting calendar . Tends to be more news around the observation periods.

The few good 2019 kids left we are focused on. Guys like Jalen Bridges.

Also, there is not a bumper crop of grad transfers this year .

Yup it's either a Quiet Period or Dead Period from now until June 13. Then the Evaluation Periods start up and we'll get more actual news.

The failure of Wojo is almost complete.  The vultures are circling.

So, no recruits have narrowed their choices in last week or so? I saw Jalen Johnson announced his final four over the weekend. Was curious if any of the guys on Wojo's list narrowed choices or made selection. Seems like we have offered a ton of kids and would think there would be some news out there.
