When's the last time UW wasn't on a top local kid's list? And how often does UW land the kid?

I'll put some money down on UW not getting him and give you 4:1 odds.

I'd give UNC better odds of landing JJ at this point than UW.

The only way he goes to UW is if the NCAA gets serious and drops the hammer on the other 3, which we know will never happen.

This probably hurts Bucky more than anything.  Now they have to keep spending time and resources chasing Jalen when there is probably zero chance he ends up there.

The real laugher IMO is Arizona.  What is the chance Sean Miller is still there when JJ heads to college??  2% chance?

Doesn't matter who's paying, all that matters is they are still paying, hey?

or UW will need to focus on Sibley.  To me that is the reason UW is on the list if he can play in college with his close friend.

The PG Beekman is a stud
We need an all out effort to sign up Beekman.

Did family move to Louisiana?  Does he (Reece Beekman)still have family in Milwaukee?

He is playing for a Milwaukee based summer team.

Yes I know but goes to HS in Louisiana.  I know he grew up in Milwaukee and was not sure how the arrangement worked does he stay here during summer or just fly back for the tournaments

I don't know the facts of his circumstances. Here is an excellent interview with Reece and his HS coach:

With all the crap going on with U of A and Sean Miller I have to wonder if there is any chance Nico Mannion decommits? I recall his final 2 was us and Zona. I know this is probably dumb and a pipe dream, but surprised no one had mentioned it yet.

MU had no shot at #5, UW actually did. Bo was legit and liked. Can't say the same for Buzz. And yes, I do know this for a fact.

The reason MU had no shot was Buzz stopped recruiting him early on.

C'mon man, I'm not talking outta my ass. If you can't believe what I relate in this matter or any other related to #5, you are just in denial. This isn't some heresy from the fookin' tooth fairy, you know?

It very well could be that he didn't mesh with Buzz, that Buzz figured that out, so Buzz pulled the plug early.

I'm not saying you are. I'm saying Buzz & Marquette didn't stay in that recruitment long. It was apparent at the time.

4everwarriors

Yes, but why did that happen? Could it have been that the student athlete and family, despite my best efforts to the contrary, didn't dig the head coach and the horse he rode in on? Not the other way around at all.

More telling is when is the last time MU WASN'T?? Regardless...don't think he's going to UW, but make no mistake about it, this is NOT a good look for MU.

Oh no Guru. This is not going to look good?  To who?

Why waste your time recruiting someone when you know you aren't getting him?  We've had MU coaches who were notorious for hanging in too long and with the recruiting calendar changed, you have to make your appearances count.

Bo won some recruits over us, lost some to us.  Both of us lost out to other schools.  Is what it is, recruiting 101.

You know kids talk amongst themselves. I just think with the Hauser situation, Wojo may have a really hard time recruiting in state now.

Then go out of state.  I really don't care where a kid comes from as long as he can play.

If someone can prove me wrong, please do.  The last Wisconsin native, before Matt Heldt, to play all 4 of his college years at Marquette was Wesley Matthews.

I see a lot of complaining about getting and holding in-state recruits, but is it really that big of a deal?  How does it compare to other similar schools?

When was the last time Providence had a four year player from Rhode Island?
When was the last time Xavier had a four year player from Ohio?
When was the last time Creighton had a four year player from Nebraska
etc etc

Wisconsin, the state, is more provincial then most places I have lived.  There is this "thing" that if people from the state don't stay in state is shames some folks....never understood it.  Factor in then statewide flagship allegiance from citizens who never spent a second of their life enrolled at Madison, but count the 7 years they did at Stout as part of the Badger club, and this adds to the dynamic.  The fact of the matter is most (not all) the elite of the state the last 20 years have left the state.  Very few exceptions stayed in state to play at MU or Uw-Madison.  I don't care where our kids come from.

I honestly don't care either...I'd rather they get better players from out of state, then pretty much anyone in state, other than maybe like Baldwin or something. I want as much talent as possible, if they are out of state, great, if it's in state, great. Honestly really don't care.
