WTF is gabe?  Sorry not close enough to the recruiting scene to only refer to players by first name.  Could you guys plz use last names or ideally full names. Ty

Corey Evans had a mailbag that only gave lip service to Marquette on the DJ Carton front. He said UM is a strong contender but not guaranteed, Carton has his mind reasonably decided, and that he expects to visit IU soon. I feel like he is turning into an IU lean based on how I read that.

QuoteMichigan is definitely a top contender for D.J. Carton, but I wouldn't say that the Wolverines are the favorite for his commitment.

One of the top lead guard prospects in the 2019 class that has emerged as a must-get for all involved, Carton has narrowed his list of schools to Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana, Xavier, Marquette and Iowa.

He will take his first official visit to Michigan on June 28 and then complete the month at Indiana with another official visit. Those two programs, along with Ohio State, should be seen as heavy contenders. Do not underestimate the in-state Iowa Hawkeyes' program, either

Many believe that Carton is close to a commitment, but he has been vocal recently about remaining patient with the process.

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Looking at Glow's list, I realized I haven't heard anything about Gabe Madsen or his brother in a while. I remember when we first offered there seemed like some buzz like he could be a top 100 type player and might commit to MU early on. What's he's been up to lately? Jay Bee?

Hasn't Evans always kinda been a B14 guy? He talks up Michigan, Ohio St., I4, and Iowa, while the only mention that both MU and X get is that they're in his final 6.  Every interview I've ever seen, Carton has seemed pretty intent to do his due diligence.  A BIG school may be the favorite, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him at any of his final 6.

My gut is that the staff has shifted focus to Watts.  Wojo and Stan have both started following Mark Watts Sr. on twitter, plus a coach from The Family.  MU also had constant presence at the FIBA Americas U-18.

The timing of Mannion's reclassification is also worth watching.

Well he says Michigan isn't the favorite,  implying there is a favorite,  and then talks the most about IU.

What I've heard about Carton is that he grew up in B1G country and that what he's always pictured college life being. Marquette and X offer very different experiences from a B1G school. Wojo has a good relationship with him but that is an obstacle that will be difficult to overcome.

DJ actually states nothing in this article, it is author speculation possibly informed, possibly uniformed.  I think the speculation provided by DJOver at this point is probably more prudent and practical.  Agree with what ur saying at the bittom of your post but to determine that he said anything or that he has a lean from the article is tea leaf reading at its finest.

I am very bullish on Rocket Watts. Seems like a perfect fit with Big East style basketball.  The kid has an excellent sense of balance which ,in part ,is derived from his strong neck. This recruitment could come down to another battle with Michigan State.

Hate it when the big boys swoop in at the last minute. They don't have to worry about building relationships. Blue bloods emanate a gravitational pull on the order of a supermassive black hole with 5-star recruits.

Post FBI-gate...they can't get away with this m.o.(even with 5-stars) without drawing some attention to themselves. It's the blue-bloods who wave the biggest red flags. Even if their tactics and approach are above-board...I think over time, the numbers will show fewer top recruits being sucked into this last minute "blue" hole. Appearances matter to Presidents and ADs, and they have more to lose than the unscrupulous Pitinos and Caliparis of the world.
Zenyatta has a lot....a lot... of ground to make up. She gets there from here she'd be a super horse......what's this.....Zenyatta hooked to the grandstand side....Zenyatta flying on the outside....this....is...un-belieeeeeevable!...looked impossible at the top of the stretch...

Are you kidding me?? Blue bloods swooping in late is as old as the game and there us absolutely nithing wrong with it.  Villanova has shown the effect if what happens when u go from an also ran to a blue bloid with some of their gets.  No boards or  presidents have any problem with this it is a return on investment in their eyes.  Provided the recruitments are above board absolutely no one has a problem with this except may for the bride left at the alter.  Most blue bloods are squeaky clean, because they can be and have too much to lose by not.

Agree with everything until your last sentence. UNC academics? Kelvin Sampson at IU? Strippers and Brian Bowen at Louisville? And while its still in investigation we are hearing things about Bill Self at Kansas, Sean Miller at Arizona, and those are just what we know about. The only one that I truly believe is squeaky clean is Kentucky, but have also been told that they bend the rules until they are at the point of breaking.

Just an update on these two recruits -- word is, both have cleaned up their dribbling, which was a problem for both.

Loisivilke has always been dirty, thats how they are where they are.  Louisville cheats just like Memphis State was famous for , birds of a feather.  I guess if a program doesnt mind having the reputation of a memphis or a louisville they can consider themselves a blue blood.
While instances can be referenced i tjink for the most part the top programs are clean.  I could be wrong.

Sand-knit you are way wrong.  They cheat worse.  Kentucky has a bagman that follows the coach around.  Of course the coach would deny totally.  Then I asked a
very prominent coach in the AAU circuit, who were the dirtiest programs that you deal with, his answer was Duke and Kentucky, and Roy Williams is no saint either.

Did you get to watch Garcia? I've only watched recruiting videos but he is the one I most intrigued by in the 2020 class. I see a skinny Henry Ellenson, mobile big man with at least a little bit of an outside shot.

Yes, mobile big. Henry was A LOT thicker and stronger at this age. Quick notes:

Dawson can move well at 6'10", including with the ball. He'll post up smaller guys, but is more of a face up four. Lefty can knock down triples. Skill and athleticism are there; length is good (pause). Fairly slim, but frame has room to bulk up. Already a very nice prospect, just needs to continue to improve strength/physical ability... that, combined with likely trajectory of skills improvement means he could wind up a *very, very* nice prospect. Winding up 30-35 wouldn't surprise me, but work to do and I need more viewings (will see him again in July).

Dainja is physically a mean customer. Big dude. Converting the bigness to more muscle will serve him well. Already an imposing dude down low, will be interesting to watch how/if his body transforms (pause). Defensively a guy who can bang down low (pause) and can use his size on d and offense.  Not a bad ball handler. Overall, good skill level for his size. Not at all afraid to step out, although I think he might be best served getting after it inside. If his game gets refined a bit, body gets leaner... nice looking prospect. Could toss him into college games right now, today, and he'd scare some opponents physically.
The portal is NOT closed.
