I think Quentin would be at the absolute worst our 3rd best player from day 1.

Have you heard any Kentucky player complain that the University didn't care about their welfare?

Never. In the vernacular, Kentucky is famous for "taking care of" their players. Depending on whom you're talking to, it's either a compliment or a criticism.

I think that is an absolutely spot on comparison.

Disagree. Grimes has the measurables to go one & done, Brunson did not. I'd be shocked if he lasted longer than 2 years in college.

Grimes is skipping Late Night in the Phog to take an official visit to Kentucky.

Well looks like Kentucky masa an impression during their home visit

Yup.  Never felt like he would end up here.  Now I really don't think it happens.  Oh well, can still hope he at least doesn't commit then and at least comes and takes a look.

For example, say, all of your friends assume you want to go to, I don't know...the University of Kentucky or Kansas University, because they offered you a scholarship and nobody turns those programs down.  But no, you feel it in your bones that a different place...let's say Marquette University, is where you are supposed to be...

How does this change things for MU?

Maybe Drake is showing up again and he gets a chance to meet him. I wouldn't necessarily read this as him being locked in for Kentucky.

It just seems to suggest that his interest in the schools may have shifted, and Kentucky seems to be the one to benefit from it.  He said he wanted to set up officials shortly after hosting in home visits, and the only official he has since set is Kentucky, for which he cancelled an unofficial visit to the odds on favorite to land him.

That is one way to look at it. Another way is that he truly is undecided at this point and that a very strong showing by our staff could propel us into the top spot. Just trying to be glass half full.

A truly great high school PG thinks he can step into ANY program, no matter who is there, take the job, and lead his team to greatness.

Frankly, I'd be a little worried about QG if he felt he needed to come to Marquette to do that.

Look at some of the fine recent teams that have had freshman PGs. You think Lonzo Ball, Tyrus Jones, Andrew Harrison, Kyrie Irving, John Wall, Derrick Rose, etc, were worried they wouldn't be good enough to excel right away?

I don't say QC lacks that confidence; in fact, just the opposite. Some Scoopers might be overthinking or trying to read too much between the lines of stuff QC has said.

Still hope he comes here. If not, though, we'll go to the Final Four without him!

I don't disagree with this, but seems like MU's best chance was always for the other elite PG's to commit to KU and UK, which still can happen.  I don't know how an elite PG turns down Cal's pitch though.

Quickley is at Kentucky this weekend. Gives them two weeks to close that deal before QG arrives. Sounds like if Kansas could land Dotson he might be able to bring Zion with him (they just visited Clemson together, AAU together) so they may prefer Dotson over QG, thus the meh for late night at the phog.

Doubt he would go where another top 5 PG would go.

If our boys go without him they'll probably have to buy a ticket to get in!

Good information on the Quickley visit.  I'll be hoping for Cal to seal the deal on that then.

As a fan it is just hard to imagine Grimes replacing his Kansas visit with a Kentucky visit and not leaving without committing unless another guard commits there and takes some potential playing time away from Grimes in his mind.

If he leaves Kentucky without committing and we get a visit I'll be thrilled.

Really just not fair to speculate that this changes anything in any way for MU. Definitely changes things for Kansas, who more or less shares the same value prop as UK. MU likely has a much different recruiting schtick, which isn't really impacted by the fact that he seems to be eliminating one of the blue bloods recruiting him.

That's like calling us The University of Marquette

We R Final Four

That's right. The University of Kansas.......KU.

A lot of different variables come into these visits. One of the main criterion for the kids is the relationship they feel they have with the rest of the team at any given school.   We have a pretty good cast of characters on our team and that may prove to be a pivotal selling point.

If young Mr. Grimes is willing to invest the time and come to MU, we will have a very good shot at closing .

Meh. I didn't go to UM.  If they can't name themselves consistently I'm not going to lose any sleep over screwing up their name in a bulletin board post
