Indiana

Actually, maybe nobody.  although he was ranked as high as 125th and the 30 center nationally, Mbao's academic eligibility was a nail biter throughout the summer of 2009.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Buzz lost out on Quincy Miller, who was 1 and done at Baylor and now playing in Israel.  Maybe the other is Miller's friend Deuce Bello who transferred away from Baylor eventually.

Miller and Bello were the two I thought of. Always a package deal, so no surprise that losing one meant losing both. That one seemed like an impossible recruitment from the start, still a bit surprised we even offered.

Wasn't the story that Vander befriended him on Team USA? I think he decided on Baylor not long after we got involved.

Vander didn't high five him so he didn't want to play with him at MU.

Yes, him and Vander both started on that team. It went from Vander saying he wanted to play with Miller in college, to a very quick offer and Miller mentioning Marquette in interviews. We also offered Bello, who was top-100 and played with Miller in high school. Ultimately, they both picked Baylor.

Any news on how Ed Morrow's visit is going?

Hope we can land him!

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

If he does come, how ironic would that be. Edward R. Morrow (no relation I am certain) single handedly took down our most famous or infamous alum, Joe McCarthy.

It would be only partially ironic, since it was Edward R. Murrow.
However, let's hope the recruit Ed Morrow doesn't end up in front of a senate hearing:

"Have you no sense of help defense, sir?
At long last, have you left NO sense of help defense?"

Visit going well.  Visiting Bradley Center and seeing new stadium today as well.  This is Wojo's cat he is chasing.  Likes his junk yard dog, glue guy attitude.  Not able to say time to prep the bunker yet.

Staff is feeling really well about some of the 18' player visits last week.  Grad transfer seeming less likely.  Not anyone really nuts about yet and feel that 18" could be really great class.

These are my thoughts only:

JH  80%
QG- real shot- Stan and Wojo connected with him/family.
RT- 50/50

Finally I saw someone saying that Greg Elliot wont see the court very much  next year,  I can tell you that is not the plan right now and part of the reason they would only take a Tier 1 SG/Wing as a grad transfer.

Would you say greater than 50/50 on Grimes?  And is "RT" Race?  Thanks for the insight as always, BG.

BD84, does the staff believe that Elliot will be able to handle the point in a year after Rowsey leaves?

How would you think a Morrow commitment would affect Joey/Race?

50/50 on Grimes is much better than I thought, thanks Big Daddy

Always Grateful for your comments, it helps in my thinking of the recruiting steering.  Any news is welcome especially at this time of the season, Thanks.

Great to hear on all fronts. I am really high on Grimes (yes, me and everyone else) and it's good to see that the interest is mutual. As the kids around here say, he has a good neck (is that what we are calling pedigree nowadays?). Let's wrap up JH and make sure that QG can get the staff's undivided attention. Bailey, Grimes and Joey= dream class.

Glad to hear on the Elliot front. He seems to have a ton of potential and I am glad the staff is making sure he gets his shake.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

To be correct, Bailey is really part of the Class of 2016.

To clarify, BD said real shot not 50/50 for grimes. In my opinion, would be one of the biggest gets ever at MU and certainly within the last 25 years. A legit 5 star prospect with no ties to the state or program the way that Ellenson and blue our other recent 5 star commits had.

Wonder who is on the chopping block for these three.

As of now, no one.  MU has three scholarships for next year.  Rowsey's (to Bailey), and two open ones for Joey and Grimes.

BB was obviously referencing what would happen if MU got all 3 of the players BD referenced.

you're right, I got a little carried away there, wishful thinking. He would be a huge get.

If it were to happen, I can't think of a bigger recruiting coup in Marquette history. He has offers from every blue blood. His mother is supposedly a huge Kansas fan. Every local power (TAMU, Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma etc) is making him a top priority. Would speak volumes about Wojo and Stan's recruiting ability.

Sure, fine.  Still currently have space for 2/3, in addition to Bailey. Chances that every scholarship player returns in 18-19 is not high.  That just is what it is in today's game.
