Evan Daniels reporting Wojo had an in home with Joey Hauser yesterday.

DJO's Jaw

If there's one thing I am 100% confident about with our coaching staff, it's recruiting. They won't do anything this year recruiting wise that would hurt our chances of getting Joey in 2018. If transfers happen, they happen.

If someone were to take a redshirt in 2018, that saves a scholarship, correct? If so, that could be another option if we add two more players for 2017.

Redshirts still take up a scholarship.

No, that's completely incorrect. Redshirts still take up a scholarship.

DJO's Jaw

My mistake. Clearly that's not an option then  ;D

Per Evan Daniels, Wojo will have an in home with Jemarl Baker on Sunday. Can probably add him to the target list.

I like this development.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Sometimes I wonder if sending out these long shot scholarships is a way for the coaches to force a bit of extra pressure on their main target to commit.

Not sure if that's the case here with Joey, but that strategy is absolutely used.

Or the staff may know things that aren't yet public like another transfer out from this roster or a non-qualifier from the incoming class, for instance. (not to cause over speculation but just putting that out there versus the oversigning theories). Just saying...

And a redshirt uses up scholarship space.

There's a far greater chance that MU goes 0/4 there than getting 2 of them.

You gotta shoot your shot when talent like that shows interest, can't be worried about spots. They recruited Markus knowing full well it might cause Traci to look elsewhere. I don't see many tears shed about that situation.

This is such a great point, especially using Markus/Traci as an example. Well done!

Get talented players. Coach 'em up. Win basketball games. Get to the tournament. Make some noise when there. Be legit contenders.

This is how the bluebloods think. To a man (and woman), every Scooper says he/she wants us to be a blueblood again.

Get great players. "Stuff" always happens.

He's visiting Joey first.  Gotta think he has a reserved spot is he wants it.  Would be nice to get him off the board.

Might as well sign 20 players and call some of them "preferred walk-ons" ala the rodents way of doing business.

I am always for getting more talented freshman,  like Markus over Traci. Transfers I'm more cautious with. If a sophomore leaves because the freshman is better,  no biggie because you have the freshman for three more years. If the freshman leaves because the transfer junior is better, then you could have a gaping hole at the position when the transfer graduates.

Again,  not saying don't get transfers. I love transfers.  With all my heart.  Just saying its not a no brainer like recruiting better freshman.
