So if he transfers here he will be a junior in the 2018-2019 season? If so wouldn't the classes be a little uneven, if i did it in my head correctly that would be 5 players in the junior class that year Froling, howard, hauser,Sacar and then him

That'd be one heck of a senior class in 2019-2020, if it worked out.

Three guys would be fifth year seniors.  And Bailey would be a sophomore in a senior's body.

And Howard would have to be, like, 18 by that point, right?

GGGG

How do the coaches at Simeon feel about Wojo given the STJr situation?

No. Markus Howard is only 17 years old. This will never change.

Yeah, but the classes would be so lopsided..gotta get these classes all evened out

We've been saying this since Scoop's infancy.  With all the player movement these days, I really don't think it's much of an issue.

Yes, the bigger issue is that the roster would be top heavy in the frontcourt in 2018-19.  Need a guard or two in the Class of 2018.  with Morrow, would need transfer(s).  Of course, that never seems to be a problem.

Not necessarily.  Morrow + grad transfer for 17-18.

For 18-19, you have Markus as the primary PG.  Cheatham, Anim, Elliott, Cain, Sam and Bailey that can play the 2 and 3.  Elliott and and Cheatham could play spot minutes at the point. Remember, Markus will be a junior by then and will likely be playing well over 30 MPG.

Rowsey's scholarship goes to Bailey. Grad transfer's goes to Joey or a guard.  Realistically, chances are someone will leave between now and then, and our 3 scholarships for 18-19 could go to Bailey, Joey and a freshman PG.

maybe no different then they feel about Wojo recruiting Jabari Parker, and Parker being a #2 overall pick in the draft.

Wasn't the STJr situation basically just that we landed HE, and Teve decided to transfer, right?  In other words--"hey Steve, we just got the highest ranked recruit at MU in decades, but he overlaps with your position some.  We'd love to have you stay and mentor him on getting the hard rebounds, but he will eat into some your minutes.  We understand if you don't want to finish your senior year that way, but hope that you stick around."

If that's all it was, I don't think his HS coaches can really begrudge MU/Wojo.

Was there more to it than that?

You might be giving HS coaches too much credit.

To those who saw Oregon's Dana Altman and Tony Stubblefield in Abq today, yes that was them. They were talking w/ UNM transfer Elijah Brown.

Chris Mack will be in to see Nebraska transfer Ed Morrow (6-7, 234) tomorrow. Soph forward averaged 9.4 ppg and 7.5 rpg in 23.4 mins.

LOL  Yeah, "so Steve we were thinking you'd get 30 minutes at the PF position, but we'll probably have to give 5 to 8 of those minutes to this freshman."
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Per Corey Evans on twitter, Marquette is expected to have an in home visit with Torrance Watson in the coming weeks.

Mizzou, Vanderbilt, and Butler also expected to make in home visits.

Per Evan Daniels, Wojo will have an in home with Jemarl Baker on Sunday. Can probably add him to the target list.

He had his first in home visit yesterday or the day before

Per Corey Evans, we've offered Cameron Johnson, a grad transfer from Pitt with 2 years of eligibility.

Arizona
Iowa St
South Carolina
Baylor
Ole Miss
Marquette
TCU
Oklahoma
UConn
Butler
Penn State

Not going to lie, it appears to me Wojo either isn't too worried about over signing for 18-19, or he's not overly confident we're landing Joey.

I have no inside knowledge on Joey's recruitment whatsoever, but if a couple of these non grad transfer guys take offers from Marquette, we simply won't have space unless someone leaves before 18-19 (which is probably likely anyway).

So why are we worried about being full up on scholarships, when MU has had a ton of transfers in the last decade?

The roster is fluid, but I don't feel you should put yourself in a position to force transfers. If they happen, there will always be options to add (like Froling) but I'm not and never have been a fan of running guys off, which oversigning almost inevitabily does.

I'm certainly not "worried" just sharing what looks pretty obvious to me.  If any 2 of Torrence Watson, Jamerl Baker, Ed Morrow, Cameron Johnson or any other traditional transfer Wojo & Co. may be after, commit to MU, we're full for 17-18 and 18-19 at that moment.

There's a far greater chance that MU goes 0/4 there than getting 2 of them.

You gotta shoot your shot when talent like that shows interest, can't be worried about spots. They recruited Markus knowing full well it might cause Traci to look elsewhere. I don't see many tears shed about that situation.
