You can add Jontay Porter to that list, younger brother of Michael Porter Jr. He de-committed from U Dub today. He has long been rumored to re-classify as 2017 instead of 2018 to be able to play with his brother.

Stevens Point beat Madison Memorial tonight. Joey had 12 pts. 3 fgs.
Memorial triple teamed him as soon as he got the ball. Had a few blocked.
St. Pt. is in the D-1  championship game tomorrow night.

Hey Glow, didn't even notice but Donnie Tillman committed to Utah. You can cross him off the list. Think we cooled on him a while back

Does last night's disaster hurt in recruiting players like Elliott and Joey? Or does it help, with the players figuring there will be plenty of playing time? Elliott signing would I think have a large pull on whatever Haanif decides.

I really don't think players judge these decisions based on the last ten minutes of a game.

Who knows how a 17-year-old thinks? If I'm Elliott and I see Izzo winning all these games in the tournament maybe I figure I'll be on the national stage a lot longer at MSU. Or maybe he sees the MU guards and thinks I can start there next season. I donlt know the answer; just wondering.

As much as I would love to have Elliot here in the fall, MSU is likely the clear leader.  Hard to pluck a local kid away from the State school that has a ton of tradition and a Hall of Fame coach.

The fact that two weeks has passed since his makes me think he wants Mich St but is waiting for a firm offer.

We're plan B in my estimation. Hopefully Wojo is already working on contingency plans.  Lots of talented guards should be getting out of their NLI given all the coaching changes. Plus there will be the grad transfer market.

I've kinda moved on from Elliott in my mind. If he commits to MU great, I'd love to have him. But I wouldn't be heart broken if Wojo lands a comparable, or even better guard before Elliott decides. Let Providence be his safety school.

Tilmon can give you some firepower as a freshman. He's a 5 star by some services.

Alexander has athleticism and that ideal switchable frame. I'm not sure how his defense is, but size on the perimeter is something we are sorely lacking.

Smith is just close. I honestly don't expect us to go after him. We seem to avoid the Chicago market....for good reason.

If we went after anybody from this list I think it would be Alexander. I expect Cuonzo to make a hard run at Tilmon. He's originally from East St. Louis IIRC.

Maybe now, but next year?  We'll have Cain and Hauser now that 3 legit bigs are coming in for next year.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Yup, Theo is a beast and looks to have a Big East body already. Hope Sam progresses as much as he did throughout the year this year, and doesnt have a Haanif esq sophomore year.

Early thought for Theo's nickname next year "Big Bad John"

Michigan St. winning does not help. Providence losing in the play in gain does not hurt.

Individual NCAA results won't make a difference. I think he goes to MSU, but not because they beat Miami.

Elliot has already said he won't commit until after his MSU visit in April. You are likely right that MSU is the leader pending a firm offer but the length of time since the visit doesn't mean much.

Fair point. I was hoping our early involvement would help secure a commitment soon after Elliott's visit. Just feels like he's waiting on Michigan State.

But can't blame a kid for being thorough.  I'll sit back and respect the process.

Rather have a grad transfer that has already proven himself. Are there good transfers we know of?

No idea where the coaching thread is, but crap... Brad Underwood is going to Illinois.

Weird that they will probably get a better coach than the Hoosiers.

Could certainly impact the area a bit. Wojo hasn't really tapped into Illinois much, and we definitely have different styles of play -- but another very good coach has entered the state of Illinois.

Always worthy of note.
