In our system he is only a 5.  Athletic, pure rim runner and rim protector.

Pearson rumors confirmed by Trilly Donovan

What rumors? 😂

swoopem

Two part question: 1) are the rumors still that he'll reclassify and 2) if so, do we think he redshirts or keeps his eligibility and plays?
Bring back FFP!!!

I'd put my money on a redshirt.
VIOLENCE!

He didn't go into detail yet.
My best guess is the reclass to 2025 and redshirt. Gets paid a year early and we get a top 50 big man.

Big men always take longer to develop so getting them early makes sense unlike guards

Yep, that'll do.

This would be awesome. Curious if Shaka would envision moving Royce to PF or if Pearson would be viewed as still needing a year or two.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

What happens if a kid gets 300k to redshirt and then decides to portal? Do they ask for the money back?

Not that it would ever happen at Marquette...

At quick glance Sheek looks Oso-ish.
Anyone that's seen him play have insight?

Royce played PF and is expected to start at the 4 this season.

Moves like Oso.  Plays more like Kur right now, but flashes some perimeter skill enough to see it could be there eventually.

Absolutely hope he signs with MU.  I do not see him fundamentally altering the 25-26 season.

Might not alter the season fundamentally, but when Marquette loses the rebounding battle by 20+ to StJ we can say that we got Sheek coming to clean it up

He may not even have to redshirt if the five year eligibility thing comes into play.

You can never have too many athletic project bigs.  Especially with 15 scholarships.  He comes in and redshirts.  Then, assuming status quo, he competes for PT with Caedin, Josh, and Royce after Ben graduates.

Is Sheek going to play until he's 25?

Trilly Donovan put in a Commitment Prediction of Sheek to Marquette. Officially official. LET'S GO!!

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Sheek needs to add muscle, but he's got great length, hands, runs the floor well, very athletic, and very coordinated.

He'll be primarily a rim runner or in the dunker spot on offense. Should provide a real rim protector on defense. I'm optimistic he can be a strong rebounder.

Would be a great pick up.

Athletic 6'11 players are always useful.

Royce subbed for Ben a ton. I mean he popped to the top of the key and wing more than a 5 traditionally would but he was in as the "big man".

Do we have any indicators from authoritative sources saying whos expected to start? I think he should but till proven otherwise, Shakas selected experience over talent.

Why does everybody bring up redshirt, I am sure that is not what a new recruit wants to hear.  He might be the third big next year, might be better than Hamilton and Clark.  I am sure that is what he is thinking about, not redshirting

I think the theory is he would reclassify. Get better coaching, experience plus get paid while developing then be an extremely effective contributor in what would've been his freshman year anyways.
