And OJ Blankson, who calls himself a combo guard at 6'8.

BCHoopster

I heard a year ago from a very reliable source that Abraham wanted to come here, but for some reason Shaka decided he did not like something so he said no to him, anybody else here that?

It wouldn't surprise me. Kid was whining about playing time in November for the 2 time defending champion as a freshman. It was pretty well known that he was transferring almost right out of the gate.

Cooled on him?

The Sultan

Quote from: Uncle Rico on April 02, 2025, 12:07:55 PMWasn't Marquette recruiting him originally?

Yes. Even had an official visit.

There was a time we were the school recruiting him the hardest, according to Odih himself.  But Stevens was ready to commit first so both sides moved on after that.

Hopefully he is looking for a stable coaching situation that prioritizes high school recruits, after having the rug pulled out from under him due to a coaching departure.

MuMark

I don't have any reason to feel like this is going to be MU ( other than he visited) but maybe some others have some insight?

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

No idea what JJ will do, but I like the timing. Shaka either gets a spring commitment or has all summer to pivot to other targets.

My insight is that he would be the biggest recruiting cop in Shaka's tenure as Marquette coach.

Love the early commitment date, fingers crossed

Gotta love ESPN - I was perusing their recruiting tab for top 60 2026 recruits. They don't have MU listed as one of JJ Andrew's final schools but then I looked at the last updated date - January 24, 2025.

4 sec flag ship schools and MU. Interesting

I'm not sure ESPN is much of a destination for recruiting news anymore. If it ever was.

MUJunkie

Going to be tough to pull him away from Arkansas, but wow would that be a huge get for MU and Shaka.

Aircraftcarrier

JJ and Sheek are very good friends.

It has been historically bad. I think they only update 1X per year. There have been multiple cases of players committing to schools that are not on ESPN's list. It's just not ESPN's expertise.

Yeah, if I remember right, it always lagged behind. Then they hired Dave Telep to boost the area, but I don't think he's there anymore.

It'll be great to have a guy to police the baseline.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Well, c'mon, the kid is wearing a Warriors shirt.

I've been hoping to get both. Shaka loves teammates with some chemistry
