I guess it depends on what you think fine is. Is it being competitive in Big East or is it being competitive in NCAA tournament?

The one bid Big East incoming.

Its fine. Its similar to last year's class 2021 with less volume with less roster spots available. It is better than MU's 2017-2018-2019's classes.

You can only compare yourself to yourself.

The 2022 kids are still questionable. They didn't have a 2020 AAU season and 2021 was limited in terms of access. Even their junior and senior year high school seasons were often cut short (I believe Chase Ross only played 4 games as a junior). There will likely be a number of recruiting misevaluations for 2022 kids, fewer (but still some) for 2023 kids, and we should be pretty much back to normal for 2024 and beyond.

It might just be me, but the 2023 evaluations are as bad as i have ever seen. It might be better by the fall, but as of today 2023 is worse than 2022.

I do not think the one Big East bid league is coming. However, in recent years, except for Villanova, the Big East teams more often than not lose their first game in NCAA tournament. Remove Villanova and the Big East has not been competitive in NCAA tournament.

Until we see how this class turns out, we cannot say it is better. Hopefully Ben Gold is not the second coming of Harry Froling.

Yes, and hopefully Chase Ross is not the next Wally Ellenson, and hopefully Sean Jones is not the next Derrick Wilson.

Let's look at every recruit in the context of a mediocre (or worse) former Marquette player, because that's very helpful.

Or maybe ... we can wait to "see how this class turns out"? Nah ... what fun is that when we can beyotch and moan as we speculate?!?!?

Hopefully, despite his good freshman season, Kam Jones is not the next Jamal Ferguson.

More importantly, the 7 returning players have to improve and Wrightsol has to help right away.  That is 8.  The other 4 freshman, hopefully one if them
or two surprise.

Hopefully, despite his good freshman season, Kam Jones is not the next Jamal Ferguson.

Haanif Cheatham would be a more relevant doomsday scenario.  Solid freshman year leads to high expectations, but Cheatham slumped his sophomore year, and eventually transferred.

Kam Jones has a better 3 point shooting base with nearly twice as many makes and attempts as Cheatham's freshman year.

Hopefully Kam improves as a driver and defender, but last year was a one trick pony.

More concerned about his quickness particularly on D.  Half step slow, I see him more as a 15-20 minute player tops.  Also, had hard time getting open once the team
realized he could not really drive the ball, they took away his 3 point shot.  Lots of time to really improve.  He could take a big step up.

I see Kam as an All Big East 1st/2nd Teamer as a Senior/ Junior, and don't have any concerns about his quickness or ability to drive the ball.  The strength he'll gain these next two years will really take his game to another level.

Kam showed a lot of potential to be a go-to guy. It's up to him, and to the coaching staff, to get him there.

Yes, Cheatham is a better comparison. Well done. Here's hoping Kam becomes a many-trick pony!

I fear Kam might be a high floor/low ceiling type player. He'll get better with experience, specifically his shot selection, but I'm not sure he ever reaches All-Big East levels. I do see that potential in a few other guys on the roster. Hope I am wrong about the first two sentences and right about the last one!

Harry Froling and Ben Gold similarities,
Both from Australia
Both 6'11"
Both have reputations as being excellent outside shooters.

Not both from Australia, but here's a few others you can use:

Both have "ol" in their last names, and a "g," too.
Both play basketball
Both have noses
Both like to wear socks and shoes when they play basketball.

Practically the same person!

That's okay because we have Stevie Mitchell to make up for it.

Froling arrived at Marquette overweight and out of shape.  Gold has a rep as a worker with an NBA Academy pedigree.
