This kid is a complete project. The only thing NBA about him is his body. There is a reason he is under recruited at the moment. He is developmentally behind going into his senior year (basketball-wise).

I hope he commits to Marquette before his Senior season or he won't be going to Marquette. That's all I've got to say.

Were the impacts of COVID on recruiting unique in central Indiana?
I mean, it's not like the kid didn't play the summer circuit for a major AAU program.

FWIW, I happen to be close with an IU insider and despite their offer in October, they've gained ground on some other PFs in the class and wouldn't take JaQualon right now.

But you're probably right, Duke/Kentucky/Kansas and the recruiting services all have it wrong and you have it right.

Great body, explosive athlete right now - need a F*** ton of work.

With how alot of the services do it. Most Adidas circuit guys actually do get slightly over looked.

That said, probably a 4 start top 100-75. Not a Duke "recruit".

Indiana might over look him because they want to use their new "NIL fund" to land 5 stars. I think they are aiming for Kwame Evans.

I think he could wind up as more of a 3. Either way we're talking about a 16 or 17 year old kid that has it all physically.

He's going to get a lot of offers over this AAU period.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Roberts has elite athleticism to go with nice size and length, and a frame that can add plenty of muscle.  Plays with "violence" so he matches up well with Shaka's vision for MU.

He's a little raw, and reminds me of O-Max.  Might take 3 years, but high upside.

JTJ3

Yup.  Roberts is no one and done thats for sure.  But the size, athleticism and energy are all very high level.  The skills on offense are just really raw, gonna need a few years of development there.

BM1090

Looks like he has some potential. Athleticism obviously a plus. Body control around the rim looks good for a high school kid. Handle needs a ton of work.

Adidas circuit guy? Why waste our time? The check from Kansas is no doubt in the mail.

I'm not saying he can't develop into a great ball player. I'm just saying your Duke/Kentucky/Kansas comment is insane. And that there is a reason he's under recruited.

Interesting how all these recruits are always hidden gems, way underrated, future stars before they step foot on campus then....

Gotta love Scoop

You have a problem.

RubyWiscy

Buzz brought in quite a few players who were "under the radar." His teams did ok and a few of the players are still producing in the NBA. Just sayin' as an exmple.

All you have to do is watch the kid.

He's 6'8" with guard skills and will almost always be the most athletic on the court.  He also shot nearly 40% from 3 this year.

I'm not necessarily saying he should end up there I'm just saying he's that level talent.

I think he's an NBA prospect regardless of where he plays college ball (Bookmark this). Every 16/17 year old has a lot to work on but he's got unteachables.

To me he looks like a football player who happens to be 6'7. That being said I have confidence in the staff to turn him into a basketball player at some point

Indiana didn't think Dominic James was good enough either.  Fifth in points, second in assists and 4th in steals all-time at Marquette.

If Shaka wants him and Indiana doesn't, thats good news for MU.

Agreed Ted. There is quite a bit of good talent in Indiana and this guy seems to have a really high ceiling.  If Shaka wants him,  I hope he signs.

DePaul didn't want Dwyane Wade, ergo the next MU recruit that DePaul doesn't offer is a Hall of famer.
