Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Keep him second round! Good enough to be some major star power but low enough to give him pause about automatically leaving.

Next year's draft class is supposed to be much stronger.  This year's class is ok but rather thin.

Not as weak as when Henry turned pro, but worse than last year's draft.

People keep saying this but then provide nothing substantial. A quick good search of mock drafts 2022 show him not even on second round lists much less first.

Where are all of these mocks???

All the main/credible mocks are still struggling to even have him round two. FIrst??? LIiterally have not seen 1.

And he said on "team's boards", not even mock drafts.  None of us have any idea where Justin is on any team's boards, which is what matters.  All it takes is one first round promise.  That being said, I don't see Justin being gone as a sure thing as many do.

I don't see Justin leaving as a sure thing at all. If I had to take a wild guess -- which is all any of us are doing -- I'd put it at 50/50, or maybe 55/45 toward leaving. Once a kid gets in his mind that he can be a pro, and he has people in his ear telling him so, he's got to seriously consider it. But we don't know what Justin's short-term goals are, how much he likes college, how much he likes Shaka and his teammates, etc.

Plenty of guys in his draft position stay in school. But a lot leave, as we've seen with our own guys who probably "shouldn't have" left by most logical reasons.

I think it kind of depends how the next month goes.  If we get A+ Justin down the stretch, he's got a shot at BE POY and should be a shoe-in for 1st team all BE.  That coupled with a run in the tourney, he's going to have all sorts of people in his ear.

I hope he returns, but I think its a safe assumption that he won't.

I'd lean toward it's more likely he goes than not but there are so many factors at play, including as you stated, how he plays the rest of the season and post-season.

At minimum. we know he's going to put his name in to get feedback.  We'll see if he hires an agent right away or waits to gather all of the feedback first.

He's a 6'7", 245 lb. 19 year old with good athleticism, finishes and rebounds above the rim, scores at all 3 levels, and has shot the 3 very well since the turn of the calendar to 2022.  What more will he prove by coming back to Marquette?

At least it's more plausible than the Badger fan that keeps telling me on Twitter that Johnny Davis has 2 more years of college as though him saying it will turn it into reality.

There's actually one of them out there that believes that?  Lol

Ha, I found it.  That guy is the one that spammed Tyler Herro the entire time he was at Kentucky

Pretty sure MU is involved with/has offered Knueppel and Janowski. Not sure about any of the others.

Yeah ... when you put it this way ... my 55/45 is probably low.

And since this is the recruiting thread ... I like to think Shaka is preparing for the huge need we'll have for a guy with a skillset similar to Justin's. Maybe the transfer portal?

He was at Brookfield east his freshman year, my guess is it comes from that. He's from MKE

I want Nojus to commit if only because Nojus Indrusaitis sounds like the name of a Roman emperor

Nojus Indrusaitis sounds like an importing/exporting company that Kosmo Kramer would be involved with.

A lot. Justin will continue to grow and improve at Marquette. Let him enjoy college.  He made a good step this year but has plenty of room to grow.

Or he can grow and improve in the NBA and get paid for doing so.  My guess is that many players would enjoy that more than college.

If Justin stays then picking up Gold is a great pickup as he we would have 2 years to gain some muscle and can be a backup at forward, if Lewis leaves it will be imperative for Shaka to find a power player.  It would be nice for a change to have your best player stay a second year.  He is only 19 so he is young, maybe that will help him stay.  He can talk to Carton to see how happy he is in the G league.

I've never understood the idea that players grow and improve less after leaving college.
NBA teams invest millions of dollars in the growth and improvement of their players and typically have far better facilities and support staffs to help the players' development. And without classes and NCAA-imposed practice limits, players can dedicate all the time they want to getting better.

I think it's more an assumption about the players that get distracted by their independence, first paychecks and jersey chaser which causes them to fail hard. They ignore those that genuinely improve or those that get exposed so they don't rise up.

It also has to do with a fan attitude of not respecting or liking the NBA.

Not to mention, the competition is WAY better. The argument makes little sense, especially with the investment that has been made into the G-League.

I mean, lewis's "weakness" is his lateral quickness. That is not something fixed by college game reps.

I would be surprised if he is still here next year.
