So, which service do you prefer in regard to recruiting?

Rivals.  That what they do and find them to be the most accurate.

Goose

Not a lot Rival top 150 kids heading to the BE next year.

Well, well.....

MU finally made some sort of headlines on the Rivals recruiting site.  Since his two incoming recruits are not in the top 150, no attention really brought to the program.  Looks like Shaka going internationally. He will need all the help he can get next year.

Tell him we will change our team nickname to his surname.

Only care who MU obtains commitments from, but just counted.

With little 60% of Top 150 2022 committed:

12 to BE
5 in the Top 50
8 in the Top 100

Still time for Shaka, but he needs to have hits, not misses in the transfer portal this year.

Recruiting rankings are a crapshoot.  The guys ranking these recruits can't possibly see all of the 2022 recruits in action and may get a brief glimpse at most of them and if they do see them, how can you possibly analyze every aspect of their game including attitude and work ethic.  In many cases it's a snapshot from one or two games unless you are considered a top 25 player and clearly above everyone else and that's still just a guess at what the futures of the players are.

I've watched guys play bad games in high school and AAU and got a negative impression after 1 game (Travis Diener and Steve Novak).  I've then seen the same player bounce back in the next time I watched and play at a top 100 level.  I've seen the opposite where I've seen players look all world and never make an impact in college.

It remains to be seen how Sean Jones and Chase Ross do at Marquette.  Jones reminds me a lot of Maryland's Fatt Russell in size and speed from video's with Jones having more vertical athleticism.  I saw a prep school game a couple weeks ago where Ross made something like 9-12 shots with 3-4 of them dunks and made an outstanding play blocking a fast break layup from behind.  They both pass the look test as players who can help Marquette, maybe as soon as next year, but that's all a guess.

This is why ranking change when players make commitments.  Even those running the ranking don't trust themselves completely.

That being said, top 30 guys are usually better than sub 100 guys.

Recruiting rankings work on a macro level, but not on a micro level.

My eye test says that Sean Jones is underranked,  could be an immediate contributor. Ross looks more like a project

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Ross, as a wing, may be able to get to the basket quicker than anyone Marquette has had since Vander.  Not sure how much he'll play.  Athletic ability is not an issue.

Cam Jones is 6ft 4in.

Sean Jones 5ft 10, probably in sneakers.

Sorry for omission of not identifying "Cam". One small, one nice sized.

Let's be realistic, Jones or Ross are not starting right away.  I see Kam Jones and Kolek starting with Prosper Lewis and Oso.  Hopefully he can recruit a wing or big guard that can shoot as well as a rim protector.  Need an Alpha to take this team to respectability.

I hope that isn't the starting lineup, or next year will be even longer than the previous number of years and this year.

I would agree as well

Kam is Not 6' 4 " ...

And, Shaka needs to get better players.  I'm really not impressed.  The two guys he has for next year... meh ...

They will lose Morsell, likely Elliot ..
I think Lewis may leave.  What does that leave ??

Johnny B

cam seems closer to 6 2" then 6'4" but i havent stood by em so idk

if lewis leaves could actually be worse next year. theres not that many stud transfers to go around. even grabbing a morsell level transfer doesnt move the needle that much. hope im wrong

BCHoopster

If Lewis does leave, he really will need a wing that can shoot, as this seems to be his offensive process, shooting the 3 which is not the talent he recruited to MU this year.  I am confused about that.

That's the starting lineup on day one in 2022, barring any early exits or major transfers in.  I don't hate it from a defensive perspective.  But they DESPERATELY need another scorer.
