Projection is alive and well.

All because I posted a neutral recruiting post about a former MU  coach. Amazing. You and Glow and Galway made it a thing it didn't have to be.

Yep, as long as people post disdain only, nothing neutral about former players and coaches that leave, certain other teams, etc..I'm sure there is a chart for it  somewhere.

All a few had to do was skip over one MU related recruiting post if you didn't like it instead of making it a much bigger thing than it was. Then we would 't have to bother with hypocrisy and projection.

I generally don't post negatively of former players, coaches, other schools etc...others can, go for it.

All I did was point out it wasn't on topic. Hanging at the Al is all things Marquette basketball. The recruiting thread is supposed to pertain to MU recruits.
A former MU coach has nothing to do with Marquette basketball, a recruit that isn't being recruited by marquette has nothing to do with Marquette recruiting.

You're the one that doubled down after being called out for getting off topic and has continued this to be a "thing" I just didn't want to see pages and pages of every recruit that Buzz and Tom Crean get to commit that was not being recruited to MU in the first place. You made a good point about maybe theres a segment of people interested in that. But have been doubling down on this being the right spot for it when it's been established time and time again it isn't.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Nnanna Njoku, C, Sanford School
Njoku is in the midst of a strong junior season. That certainly continued on Saturday, where Njoku pumped in 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Njoku is a strong, tough and physical low post prospect. He brings value with his ability to rebound and finish off plays in the paint. He also has potential as an off the catch shooter, as he has fine mechanics and a confidence shooting the ball from mid-range.
Recruiting: Marquette, Miami, Wichita State, Villanova and Pittsburgh have prioritized him.

From 247 today......says he wants to visit those 5 andhas already scheduled one to Wichita State.

About MU he says

"Coach [Dwayne] Killings is my guy. He's a great guy, he talks to me constantly, we're always on the phone, texting, their energy that they give off I love it. They genuinely like me, it's different than other coaches so I take that to heart and see interest in that."

Thanks for this! Sounds like Killings has us on the right foot there.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I think landing Mane, and securing a top ten recruiting class, would go a long way in getting some of these players to see Marquette in the same light as Villanova, and Duke. That would sure help keep the recruiting pipeline filled.

By the way..... any inside news on Karim lately??

Landing one top-10 class won't get us seen in the same light as Duke or Villanova, both of whom have won national titles in the past decade. If we land 3-4 top-10 classes in the next 6 years and turn it into a couple Final Fours, then maybe we'll get close to being seen in that light. A few first round picks, league titles, and Big East Tourney titles would also help.

All of those things you just listed are indeed tall orders.

Um, that's why there aren't more than a handful of bluebloods.

Just get good players and win games. One step at a time.

Focusing on Duke is silly. We aren't going to viewed like them.......Nova isn't viewed like them and as Brew mentioned they've won 2 NCs in the last few years.

Ps I've heard nothing new on Mane that hasn't  already been shared( he had a great visit and the staff feels confident in our position).

The best news MU is having is the best scorer in the country talked about any game he is playing, great PR.  Have a lot to sell right now, and if Mane thinks he is the man
then MU is the right place.  Symr is good, not sure he will be star but a solid player,  Elliott seems to be to frail, good backup and Koby is just a little above average.  So
to me there is playing time readily available.

No, but it wouldn't hurt. I'm for getting the Marquette brand national recognition in any way possible. Winning titles is obviously the best recruiting tool, but things like individual players performance(Markus), top ten recruiting classes, and any other accomplishment in sports, academia, or public service by any member or group representing Marquette is helpful as well.

I'm not counting on a BEast title this year, or a National championship,( though neither is out of the realm of possibility ) so I think the combination of an NCAA bid, Markus, and a top ten recruiting class is the most likely scenario for getting national recognition.

Always be selling.

Yeah, I know Marquette isn't  going to be viewed exactly like Duke.....

That doesn't mean that shouldn't be the standard Marquette aspires to.

I listed Villanova and Duke because I see them as the two vanguard programs that Marquette is most similar to.

If Marquette can even be mentioned in the same conversation as Villanove and Duke when it comes to recruiting, it means the program has come a long way. It can also be argued that Markus is as exciting as any player on either of those teams, which goes a long way in terms of national recognition.

I know we aren't Duke.

We are Marquette!!!!!

I don't disagree, but I think it's worth being realistic. Going from quality program to top tier program to blue blood is a long road. Evoking names like Villanova and Duke is a far, far cry from where we are currently at.
