MU still has an open one for this year for a mid year transfer - that would be Eke's scholly.

That's a good point.  I removed the "1" from this year - because I assume we won't use it.  But we could pick up a mid-year transfer if Wojo wanted.  Though I would discourage kids to transfer mid-year...

Is Mane eligible to enroll mid-year?  He's eligible for the NBA draft next year.  I assume that means he graduated HS and could be admitted.

Mane is an international.  Isn't is eligible for the NBA draft in the year he has his 19th birthday.

For example, Giannis didn't turn 19 until December but the Bucks drafted him in June, when he was still 18.

He's eligible for the NBA draft (his birthday is 5/16/2000 so he's already 19), but is he eligible to enroll at MU mid-year?

He has clearly stated that he intends to take 5 official visits and sign in the spring.
I know we're all excited but there is a 0% chance he enrolls at MU mid-year.

Not to get all technical but today is the last day of the Fall signing period.  Is it safe to say Garcia is signing or has already signed his Letter of Intent today (or whatever it's technically called)?

Marquette announced it.  They can’t talk about a recruit. They can talk about a signee.

Who are a few guys we are in on other then mane?  What are some possibilities for Spring?  I think a great shooter would be good for one of the spots with all the other talent already there next year?

Obviously hope Garcia decides to go to MU, but even if he does, is this going to be Markus 2.0?  Green light, no real offense, and zero NCAA wins.

Sure hope not, but I haven’t seen anything in 6 years from Wojo that has me thinking differently.

Sorry your not happy today, hope it passes.  Too nice a day.

Adding an elite shooter at guard is my hope as well. One of the things I’ve always liked about wojo’s teams vs Buzz’ is having guys on the roster that can fill it up from deep.

Elliott and McEwen have both shown the ability to make shots from deep, but I think next year’s roster could use more shooting ability. Torrence definitely projects more as a pass first PG.

Mane’s raw athletic ability obviously puts him at the front of the list. Although, he seems to be pretty raw on the offensive end as of now.

Right now, it seems like 2021's.

anyone actually working this afternoon?

We were having a really slow day at work...until 3:20 when we got called out and so I didn't see the news until almost 5:00. D'oh! Still happy to see, and felt pretty confident ahead of time.

Good question. Here's who I think we are still in the market for:

Guards: Jalen Terry, Lynn Greer, Desmond Polk

I think Terry is a long, long shot at best. Greer and Polk will likely be guys they give another look at in Spring if there are still scholarships open. Not sure how serious the interest is from our end or that either are high-major guys. Everything I've heard about Jalen Suggs is it will either be Gonzaga or playing pro overseas. I'm sure Marquette would take him, but doubt that's an option. There's nothing to indicate Zaire Wade is actually a target, but I could see kicking the tires.

Wings: Karim Mane

I expect a full-court press for Mane. Guessing he's become the top target. I don't expect any more of the big rangy forward types considering our incoming front court.

Bigs: Josh Gray, Jamari Sibley

Gray is a big from Connecticut who is playing in the same tournament as Karim Mane starting tomorrow. Marquette has watched him before and could get more involved now that Javonte Brown-Ferguson is off the board. I could see Gray becoming a major target now. I don't think we'll go after Sibley again, but the inroads are there, so they could look at him as a project big.

Is Karim's last name pronounced like "main," or more like "mah-nay" - like the soccer player? I know he doesn't have the accent, but every time I see it I think Mané.

Was just watching an interview with him. They asked him and he said it was "mah-nay."

Another interesting tidbit is he is from Dakar, Senegal which is the hometown of Ousmane Barro.

Don't see Sibley at all.......he isn't really a big.....just another forward of similar size to Lewis.

It will be interesting to see who they target other then Mane.......who seems to view himself as a point guard from what I read in an interview.

Do we have offers out to all those guys?  I can do a proper chart update with whatever you experts think makes sense.

It's pronounced mah-NAY. He was born in Dakar, Senegal, but grew up in M'Bour, Senegal until he moved to Canada at age 7. (as mentioned, Ousmane Barro is from Dakar, Senegal)
