If I'm him, I'd want to go almost anywhere other than Marquette. Why spend four years in your old man's shadow?
Ultimately up to him, but from my perspective as a random MU fan, I think it would be fun.  If he's rising that much though, I assume he'll get some interest from Pac-12 schools, which might be more appealing since he's in LA now.  Wherever he goes, it would be cool to schedule a game at MU and give him a chance to play here.  The more opportunities to get Dwyane on campus, the better.

247 moves Zaire Wade way up in the rankings.
Herm is no doubt thrilled.

The scouting report is very complete and accurate as to his strengths and weaknesses. Would love to see MU sign him up, utilize those elite level passing skills with our future big men.

My feeling is if you are the coach at MU......any coach.....you have to be sure if you are going to take Dwyane Wade's kid......the last thing you'd want is for him to arrive here with all the pub and fanfare and then sit on the bench for 2 years and transfer.

It could hurt the relationship between the school and its most famous alum.

So yeah he may be a late bloomer but high majors aren't knocking,g down his door yet.......maybe that will change but if if his last name  wasn't Wade nobody here would be even mentioning his name as a potential recruit.

I think pretty much all MU fans will be happy about this - for Zaire and his Dwyane. Sound like a late bloomer like his Father (not saying he'll become a HOFer).

I might actually be more excited about the idea of him if his name weren't Wade. Long, athletic, shooting up recruiting boards just as we are missing out on Davis and Hoggard, seems like an ideal fit. In addition, Stan's West Coast ties would presumably be a way to at least get us in the door.

I agree wholeheartedly with the first part. If you take Zaire, you have to feel pretty confident that he will have a place here. He doesn't ever have to be his dad, but he should be able to at least contribute some minutes by the time he suits up as a freshman (even if after a redshirt) and be able to be a key cog by the time he's an upperclassman. I'm sure Dwyane would support it, I'm sure the fanbase would even if he's not his dad, but I want him to have the best possible college experience he can, and it's entirely possible Marquette isn't the place for that.

Mark,

When Zaire was ranked 346 no one (including Zaire and Dwyane) expected MU to recruit him. Now he's moved up 200+ spots and stands at 129 (apparently with a bullet) - and suddenly he's right in our wheelhouse. So now it's tricky. You don't want him to come here and have a bad experience, but you don't want to omit him as a potential recruit if Zaire and Dwyane want us to recruit him. I would expect Wojo would sit down with both of them, tell them what the staff is thinking and ask them for their thoughts - and take it from there.

Yeah, if the kid were dying to come here, I'd be open to it, as long as everyone is clear on no special treatment, etc. (and I don't imagine Dwyane demanding special treatment).
Just from the kid's perspective, I would think he'd want to strike out on his own a bit and try to create a legacy somewhere his dad isn't already a legend.

I agree, and think it would be best for him to make his mark elsewhere. But if you're MU you have to let him tell you that.

Agree completely.  Also would potentially put coaching staff in a weird spot, playing favorites, etc.
