Only one of those teams plays on announcement day.

I've seen him play once and have watch his highlights on YouTube. He plays hard, true PG,good size, can shoot, quick both defensively and offensively, good passer, leader, good ball handling, and leader. There's not to much to say bad about him. Can't make a player comparison as we have never really had a true all around PG that is solid at everything.

He and Wojo are now following each other on Twitter........I'm.pretty sure but not positive that is a new development.

This wasn't the case when the Tweet came out that he was making a decision.

If you look at him, he looks like he's 20-21 years old physically, but he is only 17 years old.  Would give MU a physical guard who can play point or the combo.

Watching the obligatory videos, the comparison that strikes me is Gary Payton.    I am sure he has a way to go on the defensive end to compare to 'the glove'.     Offensively, though, that is what I get.

Looks good. Anybody seen him play any full games and have a scouting report on him? Or any player comparisons (whether current/former MU player, current college player, or current NBA player just in terms of style of play)?

I am not a scout, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. He definitely has a big east ready body. Reminds me of all those athletic guards Cincy gets. Long, tough, athletic slasher. Decent court vision to find his teammates. In the video on zags it looks like he has a quick release--although it is unclear if his jumper is sustainable at d1.

Other reports say he brings tough blue collar defense, so that should help. One way or another this is a good get for guard depth. Sort of interesting when it seems the board is ho hum on a #50 recruit. Wojo recruiting is fun.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Torrence is the #48th ranked recruit in country per Rivals and possibly still rising.  If in fact he commits to MU, it will be a big get.  This is not like the Akanno recruit who is ranked in the mid 300's. McEwen will be a senior, and Elliott a junior, but he has at least 20 pounds on Elliott and is a point guard.  Lets hope he doesn't turn out to be a "former" MU target.

I saw Nicolet play last night in Whitefish Bay. It was tough to judge since WFB didn't really have anyone to guard Johnson or Sibley and it was a 15 point or more gap for most of the game. They seemed to defer to their teammates once they took a big lead.

Johnson completely stood out. He was very impressive. He looks like he has a Big East body already. He had a nice looking shot and hit some tough fadeaways. The most impressive thing was his passing to me. He threw an outlet pass almost full court that the guy was able to in one motion lay it in. All over an outstretched WFB guy. It was perfect.

Sibley was impressive as well. He needs to put on some strength but is very athletic and active. He had a nice stroke on his free throws and jumper.

Thought I saw maybe a Butler coach there, but don't think I saw anyone from MU or UW.

To me, Johnson's passing and ball IQ is what makes him standout. Regardless of where he ends up, the kid is going to be fun to follow.

I think it's because he's 2020 (at the moment). Right now, between having a season that has us excited and knowing there's another year where we should be really good before Torrance gets to campus, the focus for us fans is more immediate concerns. There are only 6 top-100 commits on the 247 top-100 for 2020, and when Torrance commits he will be the third highest player on the list to commit. I think it says less about Torrance and recruiting than it does about excitement for the next two years.

I think the timing of this suggests a 2019 reclassification. Why commit now otherwise?  He has most of a high school season plus another summer.

He probably is just starting his last semester and figured out that he for sure can graduate and qualify for 2019.

So my guess is that he's on campus this summer.

CountryRoads

Wojo needs a monster recruiting class in 2020 with all of the departures and this would be a great addition to that class. Although it may seem unusual for a top 50 guard, maybe the staff could convince him to redshirt his first year if he becomes a 2019. In any case, I'm excited for tomorrow's news!

Perhaps. But I recall another 2020 recruit, Julian Strawther, seemed to want to figure things out by spring. The earlier we can get some top recruits for that big class, the better.

I agree. It wouldn't surprise me to see both a commit and a reclassification on Sunday.

Is anyone on the current roster other than Joey rsci top 50? Markus likely would have been also had he not reclassified.

Jalen Johnson and Nicolet will be playing later today in the Highland Shootout, about 30 mikes NE of St. Louis. This is often a terrific all day event of games. They will be playing a good but not great St. Louis Chaminade (past players Tatum, Beal, Lee, Cook etc...) team, which graduated Jericole Hellems (NC St and their point guard) Chaminade might be playing without their best player (Batchum) as well. However, Luke Kasubke and a few others are solid players. Good experience for Nicolet. The feature night game is Belleville West vs Vashon.

Don't think so......Bailey was 62.....Markus 71.....Sam 94

For those keeping track I believe this would be classified as the first recruit where Killings was the lead guy to pick MU......assuming of course he does.

I wanted to get Symir up on the board with the updated info.  Let's hope we land him tomorrow.  Remember all, we have room right now for a '19 so if reclassification is a possibility, we can accommodate.

I can't see all the posts because some are behind a paywall but it seems like Cinci's board think it's MU too.
