Bailey is not a project. Who was the last top 75 recruit in the country that was considered a "project"? He is a higher ranked recruit than every one of our 2017 class and we only consider Ike a project out of those guys. Sure he took 2 years off, but all the kid has done is mature. Our coaches, specifically Stan, love the guy. I think he will be a bigger contributor this upcoming year than many think.

Let's see your minutes projections then.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

This is why this is mental masturbation, no one knows how Bailey will play until after the summer.  Gets in basketball shape, then you will see.
Stan loves him, great hoop family, I expect him to be better than Cain, we will see.

I view Bailey as a wildcard this year.  If he forces his way into the rotation, great.  But if he uses the year to shake off the rust, get in basketball shape, learn the system, work on his game & body...that's fine too.

I could see Bailey in the rotation as a sophomore, especially if there is a transfer or two.  Starter or super 6th man by junior year.  If he's better than that, great.

All message board banter is mental masturbation.  None of what is discussed on here has any bearing on anything to do with Marquette basketball.

Seeing as my rogue name change sealed the deal with Koby, I'm gonna go ahead and get a jumpstart on our 2019 class and DJ Carton.

Once again, my refusal to change the classic MU82 resulted in us landing both recruits Wojo pursued.

TAMU snuck in a McEwen name change and prepped the bunker. So, the three of us really did our part. ;)

Well, he hasn't played organized ball in multiple years. It'll be a learning curve at least.

Brings up an interesting thought experiment... would you take a year of Chartouny plus 2 playing/1 development year of McEwen over likely 1 or 2 years of Frosh or Frosh/Soph Grimes? (I know that's not necessarily the exact trade-off)

I hear you and that makes sense to me, but BYU and Utah routinely start guys who are fresh off LDS missions. Neither are basketball powerhouses but they both do well enough. I'm curious to see what he does in his first year.

Dont have to the time to run through all of that but I can guarantee you he gets more minutes than our actual project, Eke.

If Grimes really is "all that," definitely Grimes. When he leaves after 1 year, you can always get the 2019-20 version of Chartouny.

Having said that, I'm very, very satisfied with the Chartouny-McEwen combo ... at least on paper. I've never seen either play 1 second except the highlight reels.

It's kinda why these 'how many minutes' threads are fun for the offseason but pretty meaningless.

Here's what I know.  Sam and Markus are playing max minutes.  That's really it.

We do not know about Sam until he is fully recovered from his hip surgery.

Yep. And lots of those guys don't have dads who had 12-year NBA careers.

Who knows? Maybe he's a surprise starter, or maybe he takes a year or two to get back into the groove. If he is ready, Wojo is gonna have the problem every coach would love to have...

Wojo had stated earlier in the year that he wanted to maximize Sam’s minutes to 30 in order to keep him fresh throughout the season.  That didn’t happen and Sam was forced to play a lot toward the end of the year.

With the depth we now have, you can keep Sam at the 29-30 range and maybe the same for Markus.  We need both of them healthy and strong come March and that will in turn, open up some minutes for other guys.

GE and Cain both averaged 18 mpg this year.  Can’t see that dropping all that much and would likely see it go up.  Sacar averaged 27 mpg, that will likely go down unless his jumper improves.

Can Theo stay out of foul trouble? If he does, have to think he would get 15-20 and so will Matt.

Is Joey healthy? Eke? Is Bailey rusty?  All could play into how many minutes those guys get.

I agree completely. Grimes is first choice, but these two gets are a very good second option. Actually, for next year it might be better option.

Grimes has some baggage   Don't need him.
